I want to use it more and more. For now I have also a MBP 13” 2015 as daily driver. Development will be on FreeBSD

I think it’s the better way in long term
Eliab/Andi
You mean better than Arch Debian?

Ah ok I see
For professional purpose (forgot to add it) Of course if you want to play, Linux is the better option

Good morning I need a help how can I install freebsd with dwm?
Joseph
Arminio
Well you basically just install FreeBSD (you can probably let the enter key pressed down during the installation process and will end up with a usable system) and then type "pkg add dwm".
Joseph
I'm new with freebsd
Arminio
I noticed that. :-D
Arminio
Anyways, you can super easily just start. If you really come to a situation where you don't know how to proceed, ask your (specific) question in here. We're here to help.
Joseph
some manual or something to get to know the basic commands
Arminio
Seriously, just play around and see where you're stuck.
Arminio
Put differently: you don't have a technical problem there so we're of limited help. ;-)

google freebsd dwm....u will find lots...
JCV
@Corben999 I reported the squid delay_pools problem like a bug, just still with status open in freebsd bugzilla, i haven’t a solution yet
JCV
Don’t worry y just telling about the status of my bug report, i just need to wait
Arminio
Joseph You basically just have to find out how to set up a simple desktop system once with FreeBSD. That might be a bit fiddly, but that's it. If you have that solved it's really as easy as "pkg install dwm" as root and editing your .xinitrc file so dwm will be started when you log in to X.

I'm at the moment on openSUSE and Arch, Win. On a spare lap I've got FreeBSD

Fine 😊

Nice !
I'm not sure to switch fully to FreeBSD
Eliab/Andi
I know there is a lot of work to do for BSD
Krond
True. It's just a lot easier to do that on BSD.
Krond
If you have something on your mind on Windows - you have to convince Microsoft.
Krond
If you have something on your mind on Linux - you have to create your own distro.
Krond
If you have something on your mind on BSD - you just have to install BSD.
Arminio

I mostly use a Macbook at work, but I'm connected to a FreeBSD machine 24/7
Arminio
That said, I've been using FreeBSD on desktops for quite some time.
Krond
For BSD you can choose what you want, but you need to understand how it works.
Eliab/Andi
Krond
And that too.
