aaron: Jay (Telegram): Specifically, getting it to another platform (any platform) helps flesh out the compatibility layer, and bring out some of the weird platform-specific edge cases in the HAMMER internals. That means less work for each subsequent platform.
Jaypatelani: That's cool :)

Hey you, kekoosh! (Gitter): does someone know how to use iocage without sudo (or if it's even possible or a good practice at all)
Hey you, kekoosh! (Gitter): it seems every iocage command requires root and this bothers me
aaron: Hey you, kekoosh! (Gitter): Without reading the man page, I’m just going to make an assumption that you shouldn’t be twiddling kernel level stuff as a normal user.
aaron: I guess I’ll go check the man page though and see.

creating and managing jails requires root privileges
how you gain those privileges is up to you. whether that be through sudo, su, doas, or some other privilege escalating operation

Oh god, I forgot (or didn't know) how to install only client libraries for mysql 5.7
Now on 11.1 mysqlclient5.7 ditches some dependencies
(There must be a way to install libs without breaking dependencies)

aaron: OpenBSD has Twitter?
Hey you, kekoosh! (Gitter): it seems it had, but handle became suspended according to this https://twitter.com/blakkheim/status/926531962461966339
Hey you, kekoosh! (Gitter): maybe someone from both projects should create a petition, to reclaim those accounts
aaron: Sounds like OpenBSD never had one then. Just someone registered it.
aaron: Is bh a developer?
Hey you, kekoosh! (Gitter): 'openbsd committer' in his bio

aaron: All the cool developers are on mastodon anyway.
Jaypatelani: Agree . Many are on mastodon now
Jaypatelani: And all mostly follow mailing list or IRC ?
Hey you, kekoosh! (Gitter): I did setup an account on mastodon during initial hype, should check more often.
aaron: I don’t think many use IRC.
aaron: (Amongst OpenBSD at least.)
aaron: All the FreeBSD folks are on EFNet.
Hey you, kekoosh! (Gitter): If I only new UFS is such prone to corruption. I installed it by default as a newbie and (with my laptop poor acpi support) managed to crash it a couple of times
newnix (IRC): well, you can always `cpdup` your install to something like ZFS or HAMMER if you really wanted to
Hey you, kekoosh! (Gitter): oh, thanks. google was less kind to me

1 Anti virus 2 open sense or firewall 3 noscipt adblock . I need suggestion in each one as well as add 5 6 7 etc ...
4. Hard drive or storage device encryption
May be like bitlocker
5. As chris suggested use vm
Is it completely safe to do any unsafe activity within vm ?
Use secure eraser
you can use Plasma Vault on encrypt Windows image with CryFS
you can also do snapshots in certain actions, to be able to restore previous state
Bitdefenders or malwarebytes better than Windows built-in defend
10-15 years ago I would recommend ZoneAlarm
ZoneAlarm is good firewall, but old, might be non-existent at the moment

But on an average threat model this is almost irrelevant
Just keep your win+vm updated
Maybe you need to setup nonleaking vpn
Again it depends on where you live or work

True, but VMs are more for having multiple OSes running at once than security, so it's important to remember they can be compromised and even damage the host
