Going to use BSD on my server build
Building an old proliant server with BSD
I have a proliant DL580 g5 that will be using to make a multi container server with Plex Media server as main reason
What do you use BSD for?
For learning about unix and learn programming with it
I want dominate NetBSD
But now is kicking me on the balls xD
Will be using freebsd on my server
I've heared best for server was openbsd but idk what differences are
Depends on what level of security you want to do really. Bad is just going to be what holds the containers. The vms are going to be several different kinds.
I guess all BSD are able to be servers
Better than ubuntu server xDDD
No my friend who is helping with setup gave me a long winded reason why. There can xenserver, VMware, Ubuntu server, poxmox, and more that do virtualization
I never tried to build one Server
Never seen xman before
I'll update if you want as it's built out
I don't understand xD
My english sucks
As I build the server I can update with information if you want
I need learn and read so much before i can understand the info you will give to me xD
I'm starting since 0
Noob noob noob xDDD
If you want change the group picture only give me one
At least I've configured network
I thought connect wifi will be more hard
how to use wpa supplicant
With this guide was so easy
What else have you learned that you like about BSD?
Really i'm crying
XD not really
I'm learning a lot but all are little things
Now i'm reading about sockets
Bsd made the sockets
Most of unix important things are made by Berkeley xD
With BSD i feel now i can start learn
And i hope i will learn a lot
But seems BSD will prepare me to take good knowledgements
I feel now i have a good tool to start in development world. But this isn't really, only it's my opinion. Most of SSOO are good tools to start development
Maybe freebsd will be better because has more libs and tools. But i'm focusing on C i don't care about atm
Netbsd hasn't got python, perl and other languages xD idk how many languages have with full default installation
Just I've configured pkg path and pkgsrc can solve dependences i guess
Yes it can
Any update on your learning?
I have 3 pc and netbsd runs in two
But are very very old machines and the last pc i was using needs more ram
Only have 1 ram card because the other card was fucked.
I'm using slackware with other pc
I know i'm a chicken
Lol my previous Plex server was on a dual core Intel with 3 gigs of ram...
I have 400mb of ram
Nice... I have a laptop that still works that has 4mb of ram and barely running Windows 95 lol... Gag gift from a couple years ago
W3bfly u wanna be admin of this group?
