You can download packages directly and install them tho it's either crazy or for they special cases

I download python tcz file and typed pkg_add python , it say no dependecies

Depends on a lot of variables, including which operating system you’re using to write the image.

I think the installer is just a CLI version of what you get in ghostbsd and trueos
