If I want to preserve my install, would connecting the drive into my main computer, copying all the files off the Ros c drive and compressing into zip enough? Or is imaging the entire drive needed?

Low power is both a minus or a plus. You can't plug in power hungry cards, but for a low power PC those are really great

No fans except for the hard drive fan I guess. CPU uses a heatsink for cooling
I mean the hard drive fan is also optional if you block its movement it'll only give you an warning in the bios and you could press f1 and boot like normal

On my one both PSU and CPU have small fans. Still almost silent, in idle you almost don't hear it

That is determined by the FileSystem, yes.

sometimes I've experienced this issue on windows 8.1 while I was renaming stuff on ubuntu linux

sometimes a name attached to a file would become far too long that the operating system would become unable to touch or modify the file title itself

in this case I would have sometimes switched over to another unix-like operating system like freeBSD or Linux in order to shorten the file name so that it could be easily renamed on Windows 8.1

I think that's NTFS issue... Not Windows, and definitely not a Windows 8.1 issue
