You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.

of course you can't. because android is not like alpine or ubuntu or anything. Yes the kernel is same. but ...
You can actually chroot android in every distro with a help of qemu and changes to PATH in env

If you are using qemu or any virtualization app, then It's not chroot.
Martin
Just used qemu binfmt as target chroot is/was arm64
Chungy

that's a really nitpicky detail. All QEMU is doing is translating from one ISA to another (and the syscall tables), Linux does the rest. Plus Android has x86 builds, you don't need to use the ARM version on x86.
Chungy
I've done the exact same thing on my own PC anyway when I build up a Debian chroot that gets put on my phone. I do it on my PC, using qemu so the arm64 binaries work fine, then copy that directory to my phone

i never understood the love behind windows 98 or just 9x in general. nt 3, 4, 2000, xp dont have a 4GB filesize limitation like 95, 98, me. 95 originally had a 2GB filesize limit while nt 3 had 262144GB filesize limit.
Julio
Because nostalgia

98 is overrated. 2000 is underrated. 2000 is microsofts forgotten masterpiece and the legendary predecessor to the legendary xp.
Chungy
Those file size limits come from FAT. 95/98/Me can all do >4GB files via CIFS 98/Me can do it with UDF too

udf? you mean dvds which were released in 1997 and had a 120 minute standard definition limit despite high definition video existing. the over the air high definition television standard thats used in north america today existed before dvds. dvds were so storage tight companies constantly had to keep increasing the storage size and struggled to keep up. of course they were too greedy to make any of them rewritable besides the original single layer 4.7gb

can win xp be considered as a service pack for win 2k?

2000 service packs continued being released after xp 32 bit. thats why later service packs of 2000 can be installed on hard drives bigger than 127GB. even xp originally had the 127GB limit.

2000 still has the 1990s design which is what i like about it

Xp was some kind of win 2k with themes xD

Out in the real world, UDF is fully usable on hard disks and USB sticks. And Windows 98 supported an old standard of it.

and they say it couldnt be done 😎

yes. 2000 is nt 5.0, xp 32 bit is nt 5.1, 2003 is nt 5.2, xp 64 bit is nt 5.2, reactos is nt 5.2

windows explorer and for some reason rufus have a 32GB hard drive limitation on formatting as fat32 but not macos disk utility

Might also mind that in the 1990s, files greater than 4GB were rare and most people didn't care.

macos hfs plus started using 64 bit addressing in 1998. windows didnt with exfat until 2006 but continues using 48 bit ntfs from 1993 for installations despite previously allowing fat when it was 32 bit. microsoft was just being greedy and didnt want to give average people bigger file limits despite charging money for the os. imagine the outrage if apple did what microsoft did in 1993-2001.

microsoft in the 1990s: maybe we should finally remove the 4GB file limitation for home users and give them windows 2000. nah well wait another year because nobody cares about tech greed unless its apple.
Eris
win2k already shipped with ntfs
Chungy
I'm not sure what definition you have for greed, but it most certainly was not greed.

when apple removed the headphone jack and the usb-a ports and soldered the cpu and gpu and ram and storage it was outrage. when samsung removed the headphone jack, and when framework became usb-c only, and when framework soldered the cpu and the gpu, when thinkpads soldered the storage and ram it was suddenly ok.

could you imagine the outrage if apple put 4gb file size handcuffs on less richer users for 8 years like microsoft did

so called right to repair louis rossmann sees no problem when framework ships with a proprietary firmware, soldered cpu, soldered gpu, only usb-c ports but youll never hear the end of his ranting when its apple that does it

i have a cheap low end hp 15-db0088ca from 2019. it has 3 internal storage slots, upgradable ram, optical drive with working cd/dvd read, write, boot. multi thousand dollar framework has only 1 internal storage slot and no optical drive.
Anonymous
framework likes giving excuses to be greedy by soldering the cpu and gpu yet apple has made computers with socketed cpus and gpus
Anonymous
framework should be sued out of existence for fraud for lying about being fully modular

500MB hard disks were common. 2GB was "wow huge size I can never fill up"

almost everything you say is wrong. Probably the Apple stuff too but I don't know nor care about Apple crap.

Windows 95/98/Me being common home operating systems instead of NT had far more to do with their drastically lower system requirements too. At the time, people complained more that NT required some super-expensive PC with a lot of RAM but Windows 95 was fine on 1/4 of what NT needed.
Chungy
That's not greed, it's practicality.
Chungy
those were the days that 16MB was "a lot of RAM"

32 bit was introduced in 1985. just 7 years after the worlds population coincidentally exceeded 2^32

i dont know how microsoft does it but the windows media creation tool still uses fat32. the windows 11 install esd file is just under 4GB.
