Stas'M
but it's not what you supposed to do
Julio
I have my build dir outside the git root lol
Chungy
it's what I always do, mainly habit developed from badly-written build configs (or sometimes, people don't even have clean rules anymore)
Stas'M
if you want to lose your output directory entirely, then yes :)
Chungy
It's the "how to get the working directory to match the repository" command
Stas'M
rd /s /q output* is simpler though
Chungy
bash: rd: command not found
Chungy
:b
Chungy
besides, ReactOS takes all of 5 minutes to build on my system. It's not a big deal to me
Chungy
I'm gonna time it right now
Julio
Intel atom from 2010
Julio
😂
Stas'M
Intel atom from 2010
in the times when I had only Atom-based potato machine, I never used it for building
Stas'M
I used a remote office workstation instead
Stas'M
Julio
It's a potato definitively
Julio
But....
Chungy
I mean... when I still had an Athlon 64 X2, I was looking at ~45 minute build times for ReactOS. heh.
Julio
It has rs-232 port :D
Stas'M
It has rs-232 port :D
good for testing then, but still it's better to avoid building on that
Chungy
It has rs-232 port :D
If you get desktop systems, those are still everywhere :P
Chungy
my computer has one
Julio
And I can cross debug with an even 9 years older HP pavilion

Julio
@x86corez I have a doubt
Julio
I've found a regression and made a patch
Julio
But don't know if is correct
Julio
But it fixed the regression
Julio
It's a oneliner indeed
Chungy
User x10?
Basically single-thread counts added together. 12 cores working in unison.... It's like manhours. If you have 12 men working for 1 hour, there's 12 manhours. :P
Julio
Here desktop computers had it until 2014~
Julio
My bro has an intel core i3 and it didn't came with rs232
Julio
My dad has an amd and it cane with rs232
Chungy
Mine's from 2019 and has it
Julio
Both from march 2014
Chungy
I've honestly never seen a desktop without one
Julio
And recently I was looking for desktop prices in nearly pc shops and none of them had it
Julen
The great majority, in the quoted time period (since 2014/2015).
Julio
Most of PCs offered in my city are sold as "gamer pc"
Julio
They even don't have ps/2 ports
Julio
Just a bunch of usb slots
Chungy
well mine doesn't have PS/2 either
Chungy
heh
Jose
You can add a rs232 pci card into desktop computer. Also there are usb to rs232 converters.
Chungy
I like how ROS doesn't take up 100GB of space all on its own
Chungy
Julen
You can add a rs232 pci card into desktop computer. Also there are usb to rs232 converters.
But you can't debug ReactOS on them in the whole possiblity.
Chungy
I guess the real question is whether any boards actually lack the contact leads for RS232
Chungy
it's probably a good bet that even every laptop has them. Hardware hacking away!
Julio
ARM boards maybe
Julio
I can't remember where I readed that almost every ARM soc comes with serial port capabilities
𝕩iluembo
KDE has a native non-Cygwin Windows port, including shell replacement.
Plasma shell on windows was a proof of concept on KDE4 times (I tried it at the time) ... Current plasma probably doesn't build on windows (I'd love to take a look into it, though) Although, when Wayland came into scene for KDE stuff it also helped to separate X11-specific stuff so in theory it should not be hard to adjust some stuff to make some proof of concept again

Hey guys, I'm still a bit new to the ROS scene, I'm struggling to find documentation to help my issue: I've tried building the seperate applications to test on Windows ARM (Explorer, rshell etc) but I am having an issue with explorer not starting.. I've got rshell.dll, browseui.dll and explorer.exe together but still having the error.. I'm also novice at Windbg but it's seems to imply an issue with IMM32.dll or am I reading that wrong? Other rapps work like CMD, calc, control panel applets etc, could it be a simple error from my run directory?
KL
Hello How are you? I wanted to ask you something. In ReactOS, the panel is located at the bottom of the taskbar (like Windows). Not so on MacOS. Upstairs. Where this function can be changed. For example, once built, it does not always have to be repaired manually.
Anas
Make one
Anas
Pitch it to the devs
Mark
git clean -xfd for me :D
Only if your output dir is inside your build dir
Mark
And why on earth would you do that
Chungy
Why not?
Chungy
It'd be annoying to manage external ones
Mark
Do you have separate checkouts for different kind of builds?
Mark
X86, amd64, arm, gcc and msvc?
Chungy
no
Chungy
and I've never really found managing branches to be difficult. It's too much hassle to deal with external dirs. :P
Mark
Uh
Mark
How do branches relate to external dirs
Chungy
You mentioned checkouts
Chungy
Might be some confusion with terminology. In git, branches are nearly inseparable from checkout
Mark
not at all
Mark
you know, switch between them without changing checkout
Chungy
Eh. I'd much rather just use checkout than manage multiple WDs
Mark
s/checkout/WD
Mark
anyway
