Eris
couldnt get it to crash after rerunning the installer, deleting the partition and then re-making it, quick formatting with FAT and selected ReactOS (Debug) and it magically booted
Eris
wonder if slow formatting makes a difference

<Fraizeraust> It's all told in the bugcheck parameters...

<Fraizeraust> 0x80000003: STATUS_BREAKPOINT A breakpoint or ASSERT was encountered when no kernel debugger was attached to the system.
rosbridge
<Fraizeraust> And that's a regression
rosbridge
<Fraizeraust> No wonder it it booted up *magically* (I wouldn't call that magic) on Debug mode
BieHDC
interesting
i firmly remember something about all gcc builds affected with the missing debugger issue, but please ask on mattermost if thats still true
Eris
MSVC version boots
Harrison
I wonder if the setup initialization will take several minutes to finish. I tried to boot it on real machine but it just seems as if it froze at the very beginning.
Harrison
given up — maybe try it another day, or on a different computer.
Eris
something doesnt match up
Eris
is reactos missing something that allows programs to look for external dependencies? (as is with WACUP running in Win7 mode not being able to find the required file, despite it clearly existing)
Eris
also there's an active internet connection but it fails to connect to the file needed

hi.

Got ReactOS running in a virtual machine
Anonymous
Saw something about LinuxFX on FB
Anonymous
It's pretty similar just it uses the linux kernel
Eris
something doesnt match up
nvm that, seems it wants a specific version
Eris
nvm that, as well, even with the proper version it cant see it
Tibor Lajos
It's pretty similar just it uses the linux kernel
This looks like an ubuntu based linux distro with a windows 10 style theme, with wine.

Not big surprise

I don't really see ReactOS catching on atm
Anonymous
Saw the post with the 500k views

Wish people would adopt it

If we can get along
Esteban
I don't really see ReactOS catching on atm
More donations (or programmers) are needed
Anonymous
People don't really get what it is for
Anonymous
We need to believe that it has a place

We are the witnesses

A bookmark list, I wanted to get an OS working
Mark
combine that with a generic error message, and you get what you see
Mark
check the debug log, you will probably see async errors
Mark
I am curious why this SkyZ retard keeps coming back, he must have been dropped on his head when he was a child or so
Mark
clearly he is not wanted in our community
BieHDC
oh he is not the only one
Mark
no I know exactly why he does it
Mark
he is desperate for attention

Hello there
Idaho
Nice to see that reactOS has its own chat group, the forum feels kinda dead

the GCC version, not the MSVC version

the GCC version, not the MSVC version
why there are two versions?
Eris
dont ask me

Chungy
why there are two versions?
Different compilers.
Anonymous
Chungy
Why what? ReactOS can be compiled on at least two different compilers and is actively tested against both.
Eris
and in the current case, the gcc compiled version crashes but the msvc one doesnt
Chungy
for some people anyway. Both the website provided build and my own build work fine for me. *shrug*
Chungy
I tend to use qemu though because it's easy.
Chungy
Chungy
Chungy
what works in qemu doesn't in vbox :D
Chungy
but not the same error you guys posted
Eris
but hey, at least this can work
Eris
Eris
the problems with winamp modern skins is that they dont save their settings to their respective file (studio.xnf) and changing skins will cause a hang, other than that it's usable
Eris
and it also hangs on close, which is probably why it cant save its settings
Chungy
👍
Chungy
would make sense
Eris
also, if winamp is closed but is still running in the background, that gives reactos enough of a reason not to shutdown/reboot
Eris
would think that this applies to any program still hanging in the background
Chungy
I know Windows before 7 did that too.... 7 became more aggressive on force closing apps that aren't responsive.
Chungy
I had a lot of experience with XP and Vista systems that would never shut down because some program was hung :D
Eris
i remember vista telling you that some programs are preventing a shutdown before it'd try to shutdown the computer anyway, that was fun

it's also quite fascinating to see how well the font adapts in the skin too, looking like exactly how ROS renders it
