Kempf was willing to accept if it fitted a few criteria, i've bug reports where devs/support says 'nah its something with your system', not reply for months and finally pull the plug on the feature the bug report was filed for

there has to be at least one good reason as to why VLC manages to eat up the resources of a not so good computer, where MPC-HC doesnt

MPC-HC uses DirectShow filters and stuff

that's basically lightweight Windows Media Player alternative 🙂

Iirc vlc does not respect windows directx codec toolchain. This can be sometimes a bit messy, but allows it to run everywhere and open supported files without installing other codecs
