About porting?
It just takes one person with enough dedication, mind you :P
Stas'M
About porting?
I believe ReactOS could be ported to this architecture, but: 1. It currently have only x86-32 port maintained 2. x86-64 port is under development by just one developer 3. There were other port attempts but they are now unfinished and abandoned Side notes on this architecture: 1. If somebody wants to port it, this will require complete and open source toolchain and full documentation on the target platform 2. There are no known emulators for it 3. A developer would probably need a real hardware for work

Can I run windows games on ReactOS?

Can I run windows games on ReactOS?
You have to try... but there is a wiki page where some programs are tested
Alexander
Please notice that ReactOS is in alpha stage with very few devs which work in their freetime

Does ReactOS will be ported to elbrus cpu architecture?
IIRC, older elbrus versions are x86 compatible (and quite good, too), so no need for porting. Don't know about later versions
Stas'M
Stas'M
A developer in live stream said they tried ReactOS on Elbrus via x86 binary translation, it worked before but currently regressed. They are working on it during their spare time.

i was going to say "that's got to be slow", but no... you've got vbox working in reactos :o

i was going to say "that's got to be slow", but no... you've got vbox working in reactos :o
it's running via VT-x virtualization, so... 😏 It shouldn't be so slow
Chungy
Yeah, that was my realization
Chungy
Vbox doesn't have binary translation for x86_64, only hardware support
Chungy
qemu-system-x86_64 would possibly be slow, unless KVM works on Wndows and/or ReactOS now

I guess it works on Windows... not exactly kvm, but heh

Hi all

😃

I'm come from FreeBSD and Linux, and is nice to hear about Windows-like systems
✝️ ☺️🌞 HD Scania
No Haiku 🤔?
I always require sth UNIX-like or Windows-like, and both are needed to be easy for desktops
✝️ ☺️🌞 HD Scania
No Haiku 🤔?
Good question to suspect if Haiku is Windows-like
✝️ ☺️🌞 HD Scania
But unfortunately for the best UEFI UX you are always inside FreeBSD and Linux, in short and honestly ReactOS is still supported poorly on UEFI
rosbridge
<Cernodile> ReactOS isn't for production use yet anyways. It is alpha software
✝️ ☺️🌞 HD Scania
Is that interesting to port KDE Plasma 5, KF5, Calligra to ReactOS?😅
✝️ ☺️🌞 HD Scania
And the most important, how much hard drives are minimum to install ReactOS?
✝️ ☺️🌞 HD Scania
Anyway ReactOS is always an interesting project😎

We're developing ReactOS everyday and everyday we facing crashes, this is normal for an alpha development

eternal alpha doesn't make you tired?
Alexander
If you are interested in getting more information about daily development, check Jira, https://github.com/reactos/reactos/pulls and https://git.reactos.org/?p=reactos.git;a=shortlog I am daily checking and I am happy to see "bugfix" or "x64" commit messages :D

Alexander
eternal alpha doesn't make you tired?
You cannot get away from alpha if you only have <50 (more like 10) developers
Stas'M
it's not trolling
you can get the answer to your question from the public sources of the project activity then
Alexander
it's not trolling
If ReactOS would have the same amount of developers as projects like Debian development would be much faster. I am a developer myself, but I have no time left and no Win and C experience. You cannot ask everybody for helping. I can only fix some ROS wiki entries in my free time.

OK, I think because few people have an idea of the need for this project, there is no support. As far as possible I can donate, I think

For FreeBSD and Linux yes, but not for ReactOS, even never used it
