It is possible to use a 16 GB FlashDrive for liveCD projection on 32bit systems?
& What LiveCD or iso for flashing ReactOS to use now? Any suggestions?

You can try USB RAM boot though
Camarada Gato
Windows XP SP3 on 256MB of RAM should be suffered as hell.

Xp 98se or 2000 drivers?
Anonymous
Chungy
2000 is the oldest you can use
Chungy
2000, XP, 2003 drivers are all that's supported on ReactOS

I've opened the file-browser, it froze - I turned of the PC by hard // now it won't boot any longer into reactOS.
Will try Debian for now

Too late, but lxde is not that different from mate as I know...

LXDE is the lightest graphical environment I can recommend for a new user on Linux. It consumes around 100 MB of RAM, maybe even less.
Anonymous
Last time I used lxde is a long time ago
Camarada Gato
For a PC with 256 MB of RAM, LXqt is the heaviest option I would recommend.
Anything heavier than that will slow down.
Chungy
you said 250MB RAM? MATE won't run on that, LXDE might...
Don't expect to run current web browsers on Linux or ReactOS.

Guys how to reboot a frozen reactOS safely?
Chungy
Firefox is probably the best shot, it can idle at "only" ~80M RAM

It did not - it froze to death

Debian doesn't even bother with Chromium on i686, it won't fit in 4GB RAM

But right now I plunged a flash drive and my reactOS froze 10 minutes ago ... Last time I pressed the power-button it broke my installation
Chungy
that'll happen. ReactOS is alpha stage.

also do mind that Pentium 3 is 20 years old now. It's going to be difficult to run some current software on it. I suspect Firefox can be built to work with it, but not surprised that it defaults to requiring newer CPU features.

I like extremes 😙 ... 250mb ram / 32gb ram

Camarada Gato
A browser I would recommend for Pentium III, would be the links.
The links work entirely through the interface of command lines, have for DOS, for Windows, for Linux.

A dream of a browser
This browser can be run on a machine with 2MB of RAM, running FreeDOS.
