Because its an old laptop
there is a USB-boot ReactOS ISO, but it is unofficial
Stas'M
So if I haven't cd reader on pc I can't install ros?
You have other options: 1. PXE network boot 2. Connect HDD to another computer and install ReactOS to it (via CD-ROM or a Virtual Machine with direct HDD access)
Lutrulo
why dont you have a cd drive in the first place
What a ridiculous question. Why don't you have a floppy disk drive? Or a tape reader?
Eris
Jokes on you
Eris
I have both of them
Lutrulo
Damn, I thought I could get you with the tape reader one
Eris
Lutrulo
The real question is whether you have a punchcard reader
Eris
Oh you bet

So how are you going about it? I thought an admin was required to accept the edits. Should I just add comments?
Mark
should be open to edits?
Esteban
If it isn't chaotic to follow, sure.

I would like to suggest a system backup in a file for Linux. Basically the backup will store all system configs and installed apps and app data and user data in a file. Then after updating the OS or changing the OS even you could use an app to extract that file and install all the old apps and data and system configs, with sudo
Chungy
This isn't a Linux chat, but uh... several such methods already exist. Or using fs-level snapshots (eg, on zfs, bcachefs, or btrfs) or using incremental-based archives (wimlib-imagex, borg, incremental tars...)
Mark
Why are you wasting your time on someone that clearly is not interested in reading?
Mark
Hee just wants to voice whatever is in his head
Anonymous
I think this is not very useful and ReactOS is still far from achieving the goal, so it is impossible to do this work.
Anonymous
I agree, I will post it on some Linux group, sorry.

I tried to build ReactOS from the latest source code just now,but ninja said cannot create BootCD
Anonymous
I guess there is something wrong with the build script
Anonymous
ninja: error: '../modules/wallpapers/Angelus/ReactOSNewHope/Angelus.ROS_A_New_Hope_16x9.jpg', needed by 'reactos.cab', missing and no known rule to make it
Anonymous
I remember that "ninja bootcd" will generate reactos.cab, but it says it needs reactos.cab. This should be a problem with the script.

who wants to see Windows 10 on ARM64 in action? 😁 here's online stream (yes, not a record, it's currently still online)
rosbridge
<BieHDC> this is the most disgusting thing i have seen in a long time. and right now i am watching it booting for over 5min. are you sure the whole project isnt some kind of shitpost?
Stas'M
Speed depends on the used storage controller / device
Stas'M
it seems like he uses an old one in this video which is slower
Carlos
well
Carlos
some people believe Raspberry pi
Carlos
must be Linux/non Windows OS only
rosbridge
<BieHDC> no, its a low end device and windows 10 outright rapes the shit out of it. put reactos on it and you will have a fast and smooth experience
Stas'M
+1 for ReactOS

What if when Microft/Windows officially drops/discontinues support for win32, they open source and release both win32 and win16 Maybe call them OpenWin32 and OpenWin16
Esteban
I'm not sure that will happen anytime soon

Hello
Anonymous
Does reactos support and play sound events ?
Anonymous
Does it support sound schemes?
rosbridge
<Cernodile> how are these screenshots even related to your question
Anonymous
The screenshots were sent in error
rosbridge
<Cernodile> and ReactOS has only 1 working sound right now, it's the logon jingle.
rosbridge
<Cernodile> it also has 2 other unused sounds (error and notif)
rosbridge
<Cernodile> You will need appropriate sound driver for it as well, though. For VirtualBox it's the AC97 driver in rapps.
Anonymous
I have reactos 0.4.10r33 virtualbox 5.26 with GA & ac97
Anonymous
I transcoded ubuntus' event sounds and I'm trying to get them to work in reactos
Anonymous
Reactos sound properties doesn't load default values from HKEY_USERS/.DEFAULT/Schemes/(KEYS)
Anonymous
And it doesn't save them to from HKEY_CURRENT_USER/AppEvents/Schemes/(KEYS)
Anonymous
All subkeys and values are "blank", expect windowslogon and windowslogoff
Anonymous
All values are hexdecimal hex(2):0,0 ==""
Anonymous
Also sound properties doesn't allow saving as new scheme
Anonymous
Anyone on?
Shy
They will not do this
i doubt so aswell
