Well, it depends on the alghoritm, usually there are two versions: by default it modifies the given container/range, and with _copy suffix creates a copy. Like reverse and reverse_copy. There was a good review video about all the alghorithms: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2olsGf6JIkU

Ah, shi.. yes, incrementing one with that condition was a stupid inea. Then.. we can create a new bool flag, representing whether the last processed item was good or going to be deleted. Set it to true, when we in p[i] > pre block and set it to false in the else block of this if. And in the beginning of the block where we setting it to false do if (isValueWasBad) count++; So we will still increment the value in case we shold have one as the answer.

Now that I read it carefully, you may want Ranges. They're not in the Standard (though they're accepted for C++20), but there're some implementations like Boost.Ranges and Eric Niebler's Ranges v3

Oh, no, I didn't mean to remove count++ from the first if. I mean, the only thing that I think was wrong in the code that we discussed yesterday at night, that this additional count++ was bad. Everything else seem to be good. So the logic I proposed, only changes this behaviour (adding one to the result value). Other counting should remain the same. Anyway, I don't want to help you with this task anymore, I'm pretty sure you can get to the solution yourself
