When we declare a pointer with a * , it doesn't have any address. But address is created when we assign a variable with & operator to it.
Ariana
maybe this is clearer(it was for me): pointer to hello world: 0x7ffecb8292fb (stored in rax) rip points to the current instruction being executed
Ariana
you can also see that rbp points to a function(functions here start with 0x55919..., but it is flipped, so the function after main returns is at 0x55919f46c1b0

jus a warning the learning curve is like a building, but the good thing is that it's documentation is right in the tool, like how you can do like man command, you can do like ood? to know what it does, and possible extensions

When we declare a pointer with a * , it doesn't have any address. - It does have an address tho But address is created when we assign a variable with & operator to it. - I trusted you! You betrayed me! Have u ever heard of: int *y; std::cout << &y; ?
