Hi, which IDE is best for c++ programming? I use CodeBlocks but it doesn't have any version control. I tried using VS Code but I am having issues in that too. Any other suggestions? And is Linux better for C++ programming or Windows?
BinaryByter
vscode is good
BinaryByter
yes, linux is better than windows
Pavel
yes, linux is better than windows
Questionable Both of them are good

Questionable Both of them are good
on linux, you have your tools readily available
Pavel
Is visual studio community better than vs code?
I prefer Visual Studio community for C++ because of it's tools
BinaryByter
On windows you dont
BinaryByter
not to mention that windows is pretty closed as an ecosystem
Sarthak
Actually I want to build an windows/linux program & a android application. I love C++ and only want to use that but I just don't want to use different IDEs. It's a big project 🙄
Pavel
On windows you dont
I worked on Windows, Mac and Linux and didn't feel any limitations on any of them. I prefer Linux because of Gnome but I can't say that Linux is better for programming.

Building and linking are especially painful
BinaryByter
"i prefer linux because of gnome"
BinaryByter
on linux they come preinstalled
BinaryByter
and linux now has POSH
Vitaliy ◀️TriΔng3l▶️
windowd requires you to install a whole set of tools
Visual Studio is pretty much enough
Vitaliy ◀️TriΔng3l▶️
If you don't decide to overcomplicate your build system with stuff like CMake
BinaryByter
Visual Studio is pretty much enough
Not when you do poweruser tasks, tbh
Vitaliy ◀️TriΔng3l▶️
though many libraries tend to do that
Sarthak
What engine?
Gonna build my own engine too
