With that RAM, any desktop will work. But I would suggest Cinnamon and XFCE. At least, try them and see if you like them.

That's not true. I use Cinnamon and XFCE in a netbook. I used Gnome Shell too but it got on my nerves. I would say that 3GB is quite a lot for Fedora. Probably Gnome Shell or KDE with many animations and stuff aren't suitable, but everything else is ok.

Latest packages who, Ubuntu?
Yup for servers, centos and debian care much more about stability and security, while Ubuntu push the new packages in their repository (not the very new ones, they test it for a very little while), but for servers it's very new, that's why centos and debian way more stable than Ubuntu server

2-3 GB pc gonna hardly breath with gnome and maybe kde, u know u won't just run the system and look at it, you may run chrome and other heavy apps too, I run vs code, chrome together in 4 GB and 8 GB ram machines and the work flawlessly

Yes, it's also possible. 3GB is more than enough for any desktop on Fedora.

I know that systems aren't to look at it. I'm quite experience with old and low resources machines, so I know very well what I'm saying. Back to my message. Gnome in 1GB is terribly slow but 3GB is going to be fine, specially after some tweaking. Plasma... I don't know, last time I used it in a low resources netbook was 4 years ago with Plasma 4. And it worked well but without animations. I think now it's better. And with 3GB should be fine. The best are Cinnamon and XFCE. But I insist that if they work nicely in 1GB, there shouldn't be a problem to run on 3GB.

Yeah, I noticed that. Debian is better for low resources machines than Fedora. I guess they install less stuff by default maybe...?

I'm not as experienced as u but I would recommend XFCE for such machines, it's not just about your KD, I run windows 7 on VM tp test websites on internet explorer (my nightmare) and Linux users usually developers, so they might need such things
I don't know what is a KD. Anyway, of course all depends on what you do with your computer. But he didn't say, he just asked for desktop, so I assume he's doing normal stuff.
