I know, that's why I had asked about GNOME versions...

But unlike the kernel replacing a gnome version wihout updating everything below it and testing a million things there is a lot that can go wrong

The cool thing is that people don't notice that a lot of us (really a lot of us) come from Ubuntu, and some of us still use it. Also, they don't know how many things on the ubuntu community we look at to do things in Fedora (either to do it better, different or similiar)

You can disable the update service itself somewhere and you can force using the old lists with --cacheonly

In the case of that file yes you can, you could even do it on an already customized install.

The "tweaks the gnome shell" part and "ohmyzsh" must be done by hand, asis applying the hybrid.sh color theme

"Change to x for Fedo 26"

Rpmfusion has another GPG key for signing F26 packages

So you need to import that one - also call this as user, not in a root shell

So, I prefer to waste the time doing it by hand

It will check if list checksums changed (just few kb) and if, download the new stuff.
I'm concerned because it redownload the whole 70mb worth of metadata once it expire. Either this is my system problem or it's the new dnf delta update thing. If I use yum, would it download cache like debian? (not 70mb redownload)

Tobias?

if you want small metadata go to centos - almost no changes mean almost nothing to download. XD

norj
21.06.2017
19:53:37
That's actually not a bad idea. I'd like to keep my system small, so I don't think 70mb is worth the download to update 5mb packages. centos it is then.

Use Ipfire infront of it and enable the update accelerator or opnsense and allow squid reverse proxy to cache it.

Or you have very good eyes or your phone is huge....

Okular or evince are good candidates. I use the first one for pdfs.
I like Okular most of the time and Atril for simple fast viewing.

Feh as image viewer. Darktable as image processor. Firefox as pdf viewer. No calendar apps. WPS Office as office suite.
Techincally Firefox is not the pdf reader, it's the pdf.js library the one who do the trick
