You can try and enable it, update metadata and look a version of Gnome without updating.
If it isn't 3.24, then just disable it and refresh metadata again.

Is it mandatory to use Windows 10 ? I did dual boot with Windows 8 and 8.1 and works just fine. Actually, Windows recognised Linux partitions without a problem.

Have you disabled fast boot on Win10? I presume yes. And i presume secure boot, too... I don't know right now, never happened
