If I right click on that thing, it only offers one option...

eating a ton of gpu/cpu time for fancy sliding effects, glass transparency and an overlay that will make your compositor scream

Anyway, this is not a dock, now I take a closer look I realise that is a short panel not an actual dock.

that dock is just a panel which is not 100% width, so it's more of a workaround to get a dock out of nothing, it's not even having the basic dock functionality

Well... that's why I asked here. I wanted suggestions about what to install. What would be better and why.

How someone actually can do that, is there any guide or smth? I go to the "join" page, read some topics about how and what to do if i want to join, register in bugzilla, but actually, still can't understand what's next.

You could check out the individual desktop environment projects and look for some easyfix bugs to get started.

If you're really wanting to hack on the kernel, there is a special Fedora Kernel team. I don't know much about them, but they are active, have their own mailing list, and also their own IRC channel.

As far as other low-level types of projects, I think it might be easier if you knew what component, project, or other low-level type of activity that would most interest you.

I actually do, but I also interested in other system's low-level components. Can't say about an exact system's component: it depends on what is actually need to do, but yes, low-level is preferred.

I have some background, but in Android mostly (low-level as well, e.g. fixing drivers, low-level services and so on), not that serious, but a bit more, than just a newbie.

then you can start contributing with fixing those issues ;) my main itch is how crappy the multiple monitors support is when it comes to laptop, I mean the autodetection when it is docked or when it is not... but I know I am not good enough to fix the issue, at least not currently. Also I hope wayland will maybe fix some of those.

Personally I've soled all of this kind of issues by just using xrandr. What kind of issue do you have with an autodetection?
