Yea, that first link in the list there wasn't really open to discussion much. They're all GNU-happy, and if every other word isn't GNU, then you're off-topic and gettin' hassled by a mod. Got sick of that in a hurry.

Just wanna talk about Linux, and the things done on/with Linux once in a while, without it turnin' into some big nasty hate-fest. :)

Thus far, this channel's been good for that, but I was hoping to find a more general one, not tied to a specific distro. :)

Love Fedora... Don't get me wrong... I just use more than one distro (Debian, Ubuntu, Arch, Suse, etc) around my network. :)

I think such days happen everywhere. Usually "GNU/Linux" are not aggressive at all, maybe it's just a guy or two creating offensive atmosphere today.

I dunno. I lurked there for a while before I even started talking and saw quite a few people get hassled for talking about Linux related stuff and accused of off-topic. The day it happened to me was my last day in that channel, and will be. Not goin' back. Life's too short to tolerate assholes... ;)

Aye, this has been a valid Linux channel thus far for sure. Seen some folk bein' genuinely helpful here. That's what originally sucked me into Linux back in the day. Helpful folk are awesome. :)

I even talked about shooting in this channel, which can be seen as a bit off topic, but we did that.

I'm not a huge OSX look fan, but I appreciate that it's possible to customize the look so much

I think the issue is, that developers are using really beefy machines and fast internet connection, what in itself is a good thing, but because of that it's easy to get carried away with animations, transitions and whatnot

also I don't think Qt is much heavier than GTK3, but I may be wrong since I didn't do any measurements ;)
