I had been a cinnamon user for the past 4 years, but now I am bored with it.
Really? I'm not. It's nice, light and unobtrusive. ?

GNOME sucks on Ubuntu, really
There's anything that doesn't sucks on Ubuntu? I personally hated KDE there.

So I should install it in order to use the menu key?

Their freetype and fontconfig patches are nice.
I like their fonts. That's true.

Okie so I have been wondering. KDE or GNOME, is there a possibility of using only their shell ie., I want the gnome/kde shortcuts the ui, its keybindings, but I don't really want their default apps. I don't want to install the while KDE desktop and then remove unwanted packages. I did rather use the minimal shell and build on top of it. Any possibilities .??

Also just like centos minimal, is there a fedora minimal, a command line only iso, upon which I can build my remix iso ??

This is a discussion that has been had frequently among the Server Working Group, but I don't think there is currently one. There might be one in progress.

Quite bad. . what do you use as a base to build other DE.
I think something like that exists, but I wouldn't be able to tell you. I'm sure there's some documentation out there for it!

I have used: rpm -qa >> installed_pkgs and i ended up making my own post-install script.

What did you use for the base ??
For the installation media an usb loaded with the netinstall iso, server for this purpose.

Then on the options for software selections I suggests to you to install minimal windows manager option (sorry, I don't remember the name.)

The firts time I did this I used just the minimal install option, the one that it aimed to headless use.

But my main problem was solving how to install the minimal drivers for setting up the graphical interface using the minimal amount of drivers. But I failed, solving the list is a try/error process.

For example once I ended up with a non working keyboard and mouse, just after switching to run level 5, without been able to use mouse and keyboard to login XD

Yes. But iirc now there only be one net install, no more workstation netinstall since is a little bit redundant to have 2 netinstall that serves for worstation, spins and so on.

For example, make a minimal install, just the minimal install, last time I installed i3 but dnf not resolved all the dependencies and in the you hava i3 but without xorg...

And without graphical login. lightdm. And even if you install lightdm not resolve xorg. So an startx not works...

Yes it does, but could be awesome to have a life cicle longer for the Fedora server, any way the dnf guys have made a awesome job with the system upgrade plugging

No worries – one of the best ways to learn is by practice. :)

Also, it was more of a misunderstanding on my part… I assumed Manjaro was a package, not what package manager Manjaro uses. Oops!
