Are Flatpaks something similar?
looks pretty similar, but flatpaks are based on the idea that each application requires some sort of runtime (Gnome in given version or so) and can add it as its own dependency; also running in a sandbox is done by default as fas as I know

Google

Michał

also flatpaks are more centered around repositories, where AppImages seem to be centered around package files being downloaded and executed directly
AppImages look like what Apple is doing on MacOSX, while Flatpak is IMHO a step forward, that adds mandatory sandboxes and simple dependencies

that way or another, I'm using Spotify under Flatpak for some time now and it works great with one minor issue of using standard X cursors instead of the ones I'm using on the rest of the desktop

Eduard

14:49:06
Mmmm
That will be the first one I will try. I use Spotify with the negativo17 repo

Michał
02.05.2017
14:50:21
another issue: I have to run it from console as it doesn't create the menu icon for some reason. Telegram installed via flatpak does that correctly

Michał

so I guess that is just a packaging problem

Eduard

For telegram I use the binary that is in the official page
I never have any issue with that one, so I don't see any reason for not using it

well, on void where you've got musl instead of glibc you don't have much choice in that matter ?

Tobias?

And did you set boot to legacy

Michał

alpine really looked promising to me, but there's a line between a simplicity and being non-finished, and alpine is IMHO non-finished

For development environments very much yes
You won't have issues with missing software etc

Doesn anyone here running linux on Kaby Lake i7?
I think I have some problems with video performance
Gnome animations is laggy, any video intencive process like youtube video or Zoom.us call consuming almost all CPU power
I'm using Fedora 25, stock Gnome on Wayland
