Its primary school.. the current curriculum doesn't have a syllabus framed for CS in primary level.but schools teach whatever they like..So we've planned to frame a syllabus that gives basic knowledge and through FOSS in a Rural school

we thought we could have Community Input before we start

and we plan to extend it as an OS for Computer Aided education for Tamilnadu State Board Education Syllabus.. Like visuals satins and sorts

No let me clarify . . We have a specific curriculum in india. So he is trying to customize the OS to suit a specific curriculum and on a generic OS.

Sugar is environment aimed to primary school students. You can install it from repositories too.

We use it here in Uruguay in the xo. For older students we use Ubuntu and Fedora. That's why I asked. There's no educational spin for middle and superior education.

FWIW, we're using Fedora in our school of 1500 students, but our curriculum is geared towards the grades 4+.

The younger kids use their computer classes to learn other subjects using computers.

I do have a talk scheduled at Flock on using Fedora in the classroom.

Yes, it's the same here. Our primary school ranges from 4 year old to 12.

I was affirming so. The thing was that OLPC was almost bankrupt and a fundation form Nicaragua bought the project. They went out for a new generation of XO (they were not sure if they wanted laptop or tablets) and in the end they did not find anything of their like. So they have to start over the process for hardware selection.

Clementine does not depend anymore on old GStreamer
