HI folks, I tried burning a DVD with Fedora, I actually tried several times and wasted a lot of DVDs. It doesn't work. So my question is does Fedora boot from a DVD? Or it *must* be a USB stick?
Thanks in advance.

What tool did you use?
K3B?
I used to burn ISO files to DVD using the command line.
I stopped using graphical tool due to the same bad experience you shared.

What tool did you use?
I used Anyburn on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, because I had no Linux to use for that. But now I think about it, I'll try my last DVD with Linux, maybe it works.
Fedora Media Writer has no option for DVD only USB/SD memory

And the unit works at least in one of them, I burnt a Windows ISO for my friend (computer's owner) to use in case anything breaks, and that DVD works perfectly.

The Fedora DVD fails to work in more than one Desktop/Laptop or only in yours?

A laptop and a desktop.
But the aforementioned Win DVD does work. So it's not computer's hardware.

This is another option:

The very first time I burned a Linux ISO I used this tool.
It is another option to the one you are using.
Who knows?

Yes, I will try one last time. I have no DVDs left and no money to waste.
My only problem with OpenSuSe is that I can't get to install Recipes there.

Nero is Windows and I already tried two tools in Windows. I don't think that changing to yet another will work.

I have no USB stick, I'm not in the position to buy one, and the last USB stick I had and tried to burn an image the app left the stick useless. It's readonly now but doesn't boot anyway.

@Kohane from InfraRecorder, make sure you select 4X as the write speed.
https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/20/html/Burning_ISO_images_to_disc/sect-Burning_ISO_images_to_disc-Burning.html#sect-Burning_ISO_images_to_disc-Burning-Windows

Okay. Yes, I'll try.
Anyway, my question was "Does Fedora boot from a DVD?" Because on the website it's not mentioned and Fedora Media Writer doesn't give that option. So maybe the image doesn't work in a DVD?

For me, CD/DVD are legacy, the art is the only thing I miss.

Kohane

Yes, but those are completely ancient, it doesn't apply to the present case @pionen
Back then the image was roughly 600/700 MB and now is 1,3 GB

Ugh, I love that Linux sysadmins contest already.
And moreover, I can't proceed for 1h20m already because they have unnamed "technical issues".

Since when Fedora using LVM PV2 format for automatic installation?.

Server or Desktop?
Server allocates ~15gb only to fedora root but uses all space for the lvm, just resize the lvm partition and use xfs_growfs to online resize the root partition

Ugh.
That contest was weird.
Only 5 tasks.
1. Set up a git repo and add a public key.
2. Add a public key that would allow user to access repo as read only.
3. Set up LDAP with given data.
4. Set /share/in as writeable and /share/out as read only for ldap users.
5. On creating file in /share/in automatically copy it to /share/out with .out extention.
I mean, what?

But it really looks like if they had initial tasks leaked 24h ago and had to come up with new tasks.
And weird technical problems.
Dunno, will see.
As I see it now, it was just a kind of time attack.

I ran into two big issues while doing that. First is, unit test didn't work with elinks. It worked with w3m, which had some weird encoding issues I wasn't able to fix. So, I initially thought that I have errors in solution.

Because unit-test doesn't say where problem is.
