Have somebody use Fedora with KDE?

I did, but long ago, so my experience is probably useless.

Fedora's KDE spin is solid. You wont find much of a difference at all from manjaro KDE minux preinstalled apps.
Switching Linux Distros is one thing cause some things like package management change. But its all linux and its the same Desktop environment. Both distros are polished and you should have no issue out of the box installing.

I have a question for IRC managers: limnoria or supybot?
I'm not sure, because supybot supose to be part of limnoria package, but supybot-meetbot conflics with limnoria, so I'm lost

I want to create an encrypted container and store my files on Dropbox in that container. Is veracrypt a good idea, or should I go with something else? Portability across OSes is a must, it also would be nice to be able to mount that file and use it like a removable medium instead of packing/unpakcing (as I was considering using 7z instead)

Looks interesting, but I was thinking about having one big encrypted file which I would be able to store on S3 or some other backups. But I guess I will check cryptomator out
also: how it is better than VeraCrypt?

O

Vera is using TrueCrypt and truecrypt is already died ?

Michał

Vera is like a fork of TrueCrypt - they took TC's source code and seem to be improving it

Every little change you make needs to reupload the entire encrypted drive
Cryptomator encrypts individual files

Michał
06.03.2017
18:51:55
I'm fine with one big file being uploaded around every time I change something as I don't use dropbox client on mac anyway, and I plan to move out from it on Linux as well, and use some third party clients instead
so I would sync "by hand"

Google

Michał

You don't need to use Dropbox for Cryptomator
Works on any cloud storage.
Imagine an 8 GB virtual drive being uploaded back and forth every time.
Even if you made a small change to a 4 kb file, it would need to be reuploaded entirely

Michał

I was planning on having a container no bigger than 200MB, but it's not a problem
I'll check cryptomator, it looks promising

Indra

O

It's kinda useless to use "copr" version of telegram because , telegram itself has own "updater" and total file number are 2 binaries plus telegram create an automatic "desktop" file so It's pretty much ended up some result. Also "updater" faster then "copr" repos (which is coming from telegram server itself) :/

O

06:01:58
so ?

Gwindor
07.03.2017
06:02:50
so ?
So if one of those libs would have a vulnerability, you'll have to wait untill Telegram crew would compile a new binary instead of downloading patched lib itself.

O

06:03:24
What if we have in our own one ?

Google

O

06:03:33
Which is possible too ?

Gwindor
07.03.2017
06:03:46
And it would anyway be fixed faster if you don't use precompiled TG from official site.

O
07.03.2017
06:05:22
I don't think TG would be that late too since they're pretty active and adding more and more features, security etc .
It's still same result
Fedora can be late too or TG can be late too, It's all human element

Gwindor
07.03.2017
06:05:50
I'd rather rely on Fedora maintainers and developers crew in that.

O
07.03.2017
06:06:59
If you don't trust TG in the first place sorry but what's point the using that ?

Gwindor

06:07:42
Did you check all libs is "outdated" ?

Gwindor
07.03.2017
06:08:06
My system has them newer.

O
07.03.2017
06:09:01
newer never means "more seucre" in fedora point That "never" version also can have another security issue too,
So you can't completely trust either that or TG
Still human element
