The AUR is a fantastic tool. I wish distributions would copy its concept.

Then again I'm not sure how practical it is on non-rolling-release distributions. Probably not very.

Copr is not quite that. Copr is more like Ubuntu PPAs, and lacks many features such as voting, forum for each package, being able to review the package before installing, etc, and most importantly Copr is a repo tool, not a packaging tool. You need to know in advance the repo that contains the software you want to install. It's not as convenient :(
