aye, I much prefer where Fedora sits on the cutting edge front. It's much easier just to get a workstation setup and going.

Ah thanks for the input. Yeah I remember installing xorg and kde on arch through ethernet was really annoying...

Fedora is pretty efficient with the packages it has installed by default too. I mean sure you could probably shave some of that off doing a custom install with Arch for exactly what you want, but I really don't care enough to be doing that. Fedora has a nice professional feel too it, its well organised and you can change whatever you want if you were so inclined anyway.

But then I am slightly bias I guess since my first Linux experience was with Fedora Core 1 xP

Infact the only annoyance I have with Fedora is RPMs. Not the system, the availability. If you can't find an RPM file and what you want isn't in the Fedora repo or an RPM fusion, you're pretty much reduced to compiling from source.

I think you will like de DEs too. KDE and Gnome in Arch are too buggy. You will miss AUR and Pacman, but will not be disappointed with dnf

That's what I like about Arch, the AUR is amazing...

RPM availability isn't too bad though, I haven't hit any walls where I'm like "oh well I guess I just can't have that then". But some programs go oh yea Linux download! Right on! Heres a deb file.

Usually RPM fusion comes to the rescue in those cases

Any universities nearby? Bigger companies operating? If you have friends who also use Linux you can meet up somewhere, maybe advertise in schools so other people interested would join

I have only one computer, my laptop, so I make a compromise and that is Fedora. Good stability with up to date software.

I wish x3 Right now, I only know two other people who use or used Linux and one of them uses Ubuntu Gnome, though mostly uses what it had out of the box, and another now uses OS X x3

Something I loved about Arch & KDE is the modularity. IN Fedora you have to install a huge amount of stuff you don't even need. On Arch one can install the basis to have a working desktop and add stuff on top of that.

This happens to me. Fedora was one of last distros I tried. But from time to time I do try something else and I always come to Fedora.
