Not necessarily. I bought a laptop, quite old TBH, and it still works perfectly. Its only issue is the weight because I haven't a backpack with me right now. But for the rest, is awesome.

Macs are not iPhones. Macs age better than any other computer.

Well built and long lasting. It's simply a fact.

It just makes more sense for me to buy modern stuff.

lol i run fedora on my tiny Asus X501U, too, it hasn't got a DVD drive, but it's so tiny so i put it in my backpack or in my bag, it fits everywhere xD

The touchpad on this thing is incredible for once.

Yeah, well, that's a thing, I need a somewhat big screen as I do a lot of photography & artistic work. I used netbooks in the past though.

I actually prefer the trackpad to using a mouse... Imagine how amazing this thing is.

Gestures, precision, tactile feedback and quality it's a 10/10 for me regarding the trackpad.

I do design and the trackpad has a few tricks up its sleeve. Such as Force Touch and tactile feedback.

For example when snapping to a grid, the trackpad nudges when you're snapped.

Again, this depends on countries. I never paid a license and yet that all my laptops came with Windows. If you want, you can buy second hand. Then you won't pay for the license.
