If I do "passwd -d root" i delete root's password, so then only user who can do sudo will be able to do commands with roots priviliges?

What about red hat ?
Most commercial vendors care a lot for the security and do their best to test and release security fixes.
In that way Canonical, RedHat, Novell and Oracle are on the same page
Canonical has huge server and IoT markets. They really care about security as others do

Hi all, I want to explain my current situation and find the best method to go about what I want to achieve.
I am currently on F24, on my work laptop with a 600GB mechanical drive. I need to have an encrypted drive for work purposes and only after I've setup and configured my system did I dint out I have to do the drive encryption during installation. Every other method I've investigated would wipe the data so I might as well do a fresh install.
I've spend weeks configuring everything to be setup and I really would not want to spend the next few weeks re-configuring everything as I have it now.
So what I would kindly like some information on, or to be pointed in the right way with:
1) What would be the best method to back up all configs and settings and restore it to a fresh encrypted installation of Fedora 25
if not then..
2) Can I clone my drive and restore it back to the new installation on the encrypted drive? (Fedora 24 to Fedora 24)
or if not,
What are the most important files/folders I should be backing up to keep my current settings
or is there a utility that I could use that is capable of doing this.
Please remember, I am new to Fedora coming from macOS.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

which specific settings do you need to save?
if its chrome/firefox they have cloud things

All this talk of NVIDIA. Why not simply rid oneself of the horrid cards & stick with Intel's CPU based graphics?
The best desktop is the hand chosen one built to ones own specs.
Unless your mining bitcoin or related crypto currency, there's really no need for separate a GPU

Learning curve is a little steep!
It is a little. I used it before for a while with some success, but had to give it a rest because I couldn't get Dropbox working (which I think I've fixed). Now I'm trying to map my volume keys for an Apple keyboard... and figure out a few other things.
The reason I like i3 is that I can organize all of my windows in a specific way that makes a lot of sense to me. It just takes some getting used to at first.
