Package Maintainers can make a version for "every" linux os that is much much less wasteful in resources. Fedo is quite kind to a 4gb PC, a flatpack-based fedo may explode a 16gb ram machine.

After I unmount or mount some drives it logs me out and puts me to the user selection screen, where I should input my password to login again

Oh no, local is fine. But no shitty .apps but instead a fully featured real install that can place functions it offers in a certain known folder so other applications can depend on it
