yes but you can run it in "every" linux os
Package Maintainers can make a version for "every" linux os that is much much less wasteful in resources. Fedo is quite kind to a 4gb PC, a flatpack-based fedo may explode a 16gb ram machine.

But for now i stick to the package manager approach. Which also forces maintainers to keep their software on the newest versions - a good thing.

Samuele

but it has some flaws
And a system like MacOs for managing package would be really great imho

Use guixsd or nix oackage manager then.

.app files that run as local, statically compiled crap?
Fuck that.

Why do you think statical compiling is crap?

Link to ffmpeg libs and be done with it
Plus, see the last vulnerability in that one png lib that still affects code today because the code linked against an old, vulnerable version over the systems

"In computing, DLL Hell is a term for the complications that arise when working with dynamic link libraries (DLLs) used with Microsoft Windows operating systems,[1] particularly legacy 16-bit editions which all run in a single memory space." I'm not an expert but DLL isn't used about dinamic linking?
Yes but I've read it open other vulnerabilities like umbreon

Just keep it as is, if you think more is needed we have nix/guixsd package managers.
Where you can install specific versions that can link to old versions of a lib.

ok, I will get informed about that because I've never heard about them
Can I ask you why do you thin the fact that they run as local is bad? @Tobias4X

Another bug in XFCE, after going into lock screen, leaving it there for 2-3 minutes, and then trying to unlock, the system logs out immediately

Really weird

Hi, I have another problem with Gnome Builder. Try to compile a Hello World with VALA. One of the dependencies is GLib, but, the IDE shows me this error.
