Anything using gpu acceleration and ubuntu 12.4 libs for it will not work ootb on fedore because the libs are too different.

So, no.

Yeah. I know that. Funnily enough, I can quote Shakespeare and recognise which sentences belong to which plays. But I can't remember my phone number, took me months to remember my adress, I seldom recall a name and keeping two shortcuts in mind together means kicking everything out of my memory at th same time. Fuck logic.

Try a dnf search <package>, in Debian you just use the local cache database and get instant results, not so on dnf.

Sorry, I splitted these 2 sentences, the 2nd one names one.

That is, maybe you just want to update your local database of packages there?

I guess you would be able to solve that with Phil's suggestion, didn't try, not tested, but it looks right.

Depends how fast your uplink is I guess.

Will definitely have to try makecache on my Fedora box though :)

Caches for superuser and user are different (i.e. sudo dnf makecache will create cache that is gonna be used only by sudo dnf search); do sudo dnf makecache && dnf makecache

Why is Fedora's font still using BCI hinting by default? Is there any official guidance, let us enable Autohinter?

Is this correct?

Because RGB hinting with ClearType patented by Microsoft.
I know, But that patent protection has long since expired.

If you need full anti-aliasing and RGB hinting you should enable RPM Fusion repository and run sudo dnf install freetype-freeworld.

After installing freetype-freeworld package open terminal and create symbolic link to enable all AA features: sudo ln -s /usr/share/fontconfig/conf.avail/11-lcdfilter-default.conf /etc/fonts/conf.d/ Then restart your system.

Yeah. If you want something to be sent in full quality, you have to send it as file. As picture, it's always reduced to save data and time.

Yes, they use JPEG with 80% compression level for images.

It will only check if there are newer live resources available and you can enforce local cache usage even on hugely outdated caches with --cacheonly on all commands.

So no, it does not make sense to separate the commands.

What does happen however for dnf search is that user dnf and root dnf keep different package caches. You could have gotten the wrong, non-cache impression by doing dnf search as a user after updating as root.

Will definitely have to try makecache on my Fedora box though :)
Not needed, its auto-done by dnf when you upgrade.

No, official Fedora Firefox is built like the upstream Firefox.

Currently typing on a quite similar board: Vortex Core.

Yours is way more compact thanks to not having F-keys, though, so I'm a bit jealous.

Pretty much looks like a Lets-Split that's missing 6 keys.

I could well live with some layout like this

I guess a split ortho is the next I build

Btw there are these things that you can pull out from the bottom of the board that will let the keyboard stand more angled on your table, what are these things called in english?
