Uhm. Never happened to me. What theme are you using? Plasma & QT. What happens if you check the blur effect again? I suppose you already restarted your session, right?

Did everything. Even restarted the system. If I recheck the blur effect, it applies again. But if I uncheck it, the right click menu becomes fully transparent.

The use of colour schemes depends a lot on the Plasma & QT themes.

So it's something in your configuration that is telling the theme to make it fully transparent in case you uncheck the blurring.

I never used Adapta, I don't like it, so I'm applying general knowledge here.

Well, this is not related to color schemes that I've customised. Just the theme and blur effect. I applied a default theme( Breeze) and still the right click menu stays fully transparent if the blur is unchecked.

Kohane
19.10.2018
19:47:23
Yeah, definitely something in your configuration is telling Plasma to do that.

But it's not the colour schemes, that's Plasma or QT settings.

Breeze is another theme I don't use ?

No. You are not right. Fedora always get latest versions of KDE. F28 was released with 5.12 and got 5.13 later.

dnf upgrade - installation of regular package updates. dnf distro-sync --releasever=X - installation of major upgrades.

Kohane

Therefore I'm upgrading from KDE 5.12 to 5.13

All in all, from one desktop version to another is a major thing, it's an upgrade, that's not minor updates.

Dave

at that point, the only ting that might be updates is dnf upgrade —security, but tha that's even a major symantic argument. fwiw, with apt update updates the repo meta data, and you still run apt upgrade to do any kids up zudate/upgrade. if the symantics is really that much of a problem I guess it is time for someone to write a new package manager with their symantic proclivities.

Kohane
19.10.2018

Not really. I had to reinstall after desktop upgrades. Not often, but it happened. Or use a live ISO to access files in system so to fix whatever is not working after the upgrade/update. And provided DNF uses only "upgrade" as command, that is an upgrade.

Unrelated: I mentioned days ago some stragen issue with Python 3.6. I managed to find out the cause: Dnfdragora. For some reason, when I quit this program it returns an error in Python 3.6 claiming that it stopped to work. There are no ways to report the bug, only to restart it. So I do, and nothing seems affected. But at least, now I know where's the problem.

According to the documentation dnf update is kept for legacy reasons. But the equivalents to apt-get are: dnf check-upgrade > apt-get update dnf upgrade > apt-get upgrade + apt-get dist-upgrade
