Yeah, that's the main problem I have with it, it's cool when you think about it, but when you actually try to use it it sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't

Signal seems pretty cool

as well

but it's not the same

They collect data for themselves, not for other governments, obviously.

They don't make money off of data that they give to governments for free.

Decentralization doesn't mean you _have_ to set up a server. Use an existing one if you don't know how to properly set one up.

Decentralization doesn't mean you _have_ to set up a server. Use an existing one if you don't know how to properly set one up.
You can even pay to use a commercial server done by a provider you trust, so you can be sure you're a customer, not a product.

Lesik

WhatsApp's encryption IS NOT SAFE. They won't voluntarily pay thousands of dollars for something that forbids them to snoop in their user's messages.

They can't be compared well imho. Telegram has a proven, but weird encryption while WhatsApp has a good encryption that one can't be sure if it even exists.

Lesik
07.11.2016
