Kohane
25.09.2016
10:34:39
Yes, I know
I've read a lot, maybe too much about concentration camps
And every time I think I had seen everything, something else, worse than whatever I had read previously, shows up.

What would you prefer for running intelliJ Idea ultimate on fedora, OpenJDK 8 or Oracle JDK 8?

Fedora Telegram <=> IRC Bridge
25.09.2016
11:02:05
thunderbirdtr: Depend on what you wanna do ? but IntellJ suggest using Oracle JDK*

Ahmed Waleed

11:02:10
Does Oracle version gives performance boost? Is it available in any repos? RPM Fusion?

Fedora Telegram <=> IRC Bridge
25.09.2016
11:02:39
thunderbirdtr: You have to install yourself from oracle website and download RPM package*

Dani~
25.09.2016
11:02:44
It's available on Oracle page, can't be on RPM Fusion due licensing

Fedora Telegram <=> IRC Bridge
25.09.2016
11:02:50
thunderbirdtr: +1

Ahmed Waleed
25.09.2016
11:03:28
okay thanks. One last question, so i will have to download and manually install everytime once there is an update or it has automatic updates?

Dani~
25.09.2016
11:03:32
you can create a cronscript to autodownload updates...

but take in mine that it implies doing "Click" on "I accept....blablalbla... selling my soul...blablalba"
so you'll need to simulate user actions

Google

Dani~
25.09.2016
11:05:18
or you can try if the "Oracle Yum Server" doesn't explode at all
but take in mind it's with Oracle Linux in mind, not other rpm

I am just moving back from ubuntu to fedora 24 on my main dev machine and this time i have to setup Java Environment for my Final Year School Project.
Does Developer Assisstant provides easy way to install intellij? As far as i remember ithink there was support for eclipse only

Dani~
25.09.2016
11:07:53
mmm... no idea
I use the version from Android Studio anyway
It's the only reason to use java, lol

Ahmed Waleed
25.09.2016

Dani~

11:11:17
I just read "I have to develop on drugs"
anyway, you can install intelliji with no problems
just download from the official webpage
if you don't wanna the Android fork

Great, thank you. Last time I searched I found everything for Windows and nothing for Linux

O
25.09.2016
14:47:04
based on RHEL 7 which is Fedora based*
Everything fine except "Parallel"
so you gonna be fine I guess :)

Kohane
25.09.2016
14:47:25
What is parallel?
It's not my device

O
25.09.2016
14:47:40
It's I/O

Kohane

Kohane

14:48:58
I never do this and it's not my machine, nor the printer nor the netbook

O
25.09.2016
14:49:10
You gonna need HPLIP stuff which can be install by "dnf"

Kohane
25.09.2016
14:49:39
@Meruso It's not mine and it was here before I came and looks quite dusty so I don't think is very new ?

Meruso
25.09.2016
14:49:56
It should work out of the box on many distros then.

O
25.09.2016
14:50:02
yes It's does
for example for fax need some configuration
before use
so yeap
Scanner and printing will be just fine but don't forget the configure first*

Kohane
25.09.2016
14:50:35
Okay, I will install HPLIP and come back to say if it works or not

Meruso
25.09.2016
14:50:40
I got one of those multi-function ones, even scanning via wifi works

Kohane
25.09.2016
14:50:48
Yes, but I never configured one.
I never owned one myself

O
25.09.2016
14:51:20
Well, sometimes configuration set to US newspaper page for some reason

Meruso
25.09.2016
14:51:23
tip:
http://localhost:631
here you can configure cups print server

O
25.09.2016
14:51:30
just make sure for A4 or something
If you using GNOME
you can handle in "printer" menu without web interface too
