This script do make install several times for build and static- linked libs. This is too bad.

For installing into /usr/local, not compiling.

if that's the case then i'd ask for sudo at that very step

and for that step only

This script is designed to run from VM, so it can be easilly runned from root.

Hello! I installed Fedora 24 Cinnnamon Spin in a Lenovo Yoga 3. I installed it as dual boot and everything seemed to work well until I updated and restart. Now Fedora seems to get stuck in the start and Windows doesn't even start. Anyone know a solution?

I tried installing from scratch again but it didn't work either.

It's not even my netbook

Vitaly

Or simply use EFIBoot. Windows 7 SP1+ support it. ?

Kohane

Well, how do I do that?

How do I use EFI Boot?

I don't even know what is it....

Fran

yoga 3 includes a processor which has VT-x, VT-d and EPT support, using virtualization with gnome-boxes instead of dual boot seems to be a good option

How do I use EFI Boot?
1. You need GPT on your HDD/SSD. 2. Create 256M vfat partition on first HDD/SSD with GPT. 3. Install Windows in UEFI mode. 4. Install Fedora in UEFI mode.

And of course your motherboard must support EFI Boot.

You can download it from Microsoft website.

And then? What should I do?

There is no way to solve this without going through Windows?

Like saving the data and installing Fedora with some extra options or something like that?

Just boot from Fedora LiveCD, backup all data you need to external storage, then start GParted and convert MBR to GPT (this will cause loss of all data). Then create first 256M vfat (FAT32) partition for UEFI System Partition and partitions you need for OS installation. Install Windows, then Fedora in UEFI mode both.

alternatively, with virtualization you don't need to deal with these partition designs and still might fit your needs

But as she's used to Windows, the idea was keeping Windows for a while meantime she gets used

Kohane

Yes, but that's not a simple thing for her. The easiest way is just dual boot and picking

She's science student, uses the computer for simple tasks and her courses

Don't ask her Virtual Machine and stuff.

Perfectly

I'm on her Fedora now

I can't access Windows files though, it says it's hibernating...

OK, Windows refuse to work but Linux does work

Can I access to Windows partition from live media? So I can copy everything and leave her with Fedora working virtually alone

I think you can't do that

If she had win 10 or win 8 before, if it is hibernated you can't access those drives
