yes this is a good tutorial.
i used it too
but on some machines it worked
on others it didn't
it depends on god knows what
one more thing
if your machine don't start a networkmanager at boot time on it's own, then download all the rpms you need for the installation of the nouveau driver before you start.
or it can become complicated afterwards if you connect to the internet through wlan.

I never had any such problem. All Machines undergoing that procedure would connect to lan and wlan perfectly fine.
my current machine don't start networkmanager at boot time, it starts only after graphical login
so if i don't deconstruct my computer, and then reconstruct it near router in another room on the floor i can't connect to the internet, because i haven't fugured out, how to connect to WPA2 secured wlan point through the terminal, and somehow i couldn't find the networkmanager config file in the folder it should be.
so i couldn't start the networkmanager manually and couldn't find a way to connect to the wlan manually.
the only thing that worked, was to connect WITH lan.
after i started to use xfce, the networkmanager starts only after graphical login
on gnome i hadn't have this problem

@deadgnom32 @Tobias4X @Kohane I appreciate your help. But I've tried everything you have mentioned. I've tried two different methods to install the drivers and each time my DM has failed.
I would love to go with the free drivers but I'm unsure whether I'll be able to run my CUDA code flawlessly.
Nouveau doesn't support CUDA.
Does Bumblebee?
@jh0ker said that Bumblebee worked for him on Linux Mint and he was able to run CUDA code but the Fedora Project wiki has no mention about it..

Best way to install Telegram in Fedora 24? When I type "sudo dnf copr enable rommon/telegram" I get error message: "Error: This repository does not have any builds yet so you cannot enable it now."

You could start System Monitor and in its options select "All Users" instead of "Own Processes"
You could track if anything requires a ton of cpu there

Using a mail server
No kidding. I am careful in how I use the Internet.
I generally do not connect to web sites from my own machine, aside from a few sites I have some special relationship with. I usually fetch web pages from other sites by sending mail to a program (see git://git.gnu.org/womb/hacks.git) that fetches them, much like wget, and then mails them back to me. Then I look at them using a web browser, unless it is easy to see the text in the HTML page directly. I usually try lynx first, then a graphical browser if the page needs it (using konqueror, which won't fetch from other sites in such a situation).
I occasionally also browse unrelated sites using IceCat via Tor. Except for rare cases, I do not identify myself to them. I think that is enough to prevent my browsing from being connected with me.
I never pay for anything on the Web. Anything on the net that requires payment, I don't do. (I made an exception for the fees for the stallman.org domain, since that is connected with me anyway.) I also avoid paying with credit cards.
I would not mind paying for a copy of an e-book or music recording on the Internet if I could do so anonymously, and it were ethical in other ways (no DRM or EULA). But that option almost never exists. I keep looking for ways to make it exist.
