One problem with VirtualBox is that the BIOS is FOSS, but needs a proprietary compiler

I agree 100 % with this line in that page: Every time you say “free software” rather than “open source,” you help our cause. probably *our = Free Software Foundation or maybe RMS. —- I couldn't make much sense of the rest..

Look in simple terms, when we only look at the code, free software or open source dosent make a difference. But when we say free software, we are also talking about the socio-political value the software presents to the world. Example, debian

"probably *our = Free Software Foundation or maybe RMS. " Oh Yes, when we talk in the fedora group,, and we this, it does refer to fedora and not the world. So yes, it is not probably, it does refer to FSF

"Every time you say “free software” rather than “open source,” you help our cause." Exactly We have had this habit of looking at the code and using it for free of cost. Yes, by saying free software, we are staying explict that it is not just the cost, it is also the freedom that we talk about. Yes, I am helping the cause of FSF, what is wrong there ?

It is not, except the extension .
Oh ya, but do they get shipped or installed when we install virtual box, if yes, that is a tool I should stay away from

Guys I have a weird network problem. Suppouse I am connected to WiFi, then I tether via USB my cellphone (it is not connected to Internet). When I do that, I lose my Internet connection on my PC, but if I activate the Internet on my telephone, I can connect again. What should I do?

ah, my WiFi connection always remains

For me that is the difference, between Free (As in freedom) Software and Open Source Software. The Open Source Initiative defines a permissive software license as a "non-copyleft license" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_General_Public_License The GNU General Public License (GNU GPL or GPL) is a widely used[6] free software license, which guarantees end users (individuals, organizations, companies) the freedoms to run, study, share (copy), and modify the software. Software that allows these rights is called free software and, if the software is copylefted, requires those rights to be retained. The GPL demands both.

For monitoring network speed I use nethogs via command line. Mate has it own netspeed applet. There is one on the gnome-shell extension site, from update to update (gnome3.xx to gnome3.yy) the site sometimes tells you are no using gnome or an outdated gnome version which is annoying when you are already using gnome.
