The person that made Gentoo didn't like the way it turned out mainly because of limitations during the time. He realized that Gentoo could be improved if it implemented the modern systems we have now so the lead developer left the Gentoo foundation and forked the distro; rebuilding it so that it uses git and a much cleaner epro over eselect features. Ontop of that It also uses the make conf less and is designed to make it easy to use and not get in your way, while still keeping the original configure everything mindset.

I was going to say something else but it slipped my mind.

Oh yeah, I can give a good example. Funtoo stage 3 comes with a kernel configured to work straight away. So while you can compile another kernel like on Gentoo you can just keep using the one the system comes with just fine. (Which is Debian-sources 4.5 Kernel btw)

It requires terminal work and disabling the gui and tons of commands as the rpmfusion drivers do not support the needed multilib installation that steam requires so you have to manually install it

Of which any and all suck, use more cpu cycles, offer less features or are months behind on patching The only good browsers spawning from this base on blink itself like qutebrowser

If you need full multimedia support in a -good- way in a browser you either have to use firefox, chrome native or use a distro that craps on licensing and delivers all codecs for chromium as addon package

Tough i cant understand why spots chromium does not use system installed codecs. If i install a mp3 decoder why doesnt it bloody use it
