Major versions that contain newer Android depend on maintainer really much
So you can't tell anything about that as every maintainer can suddenly buy another phone
Popular phones have a lot of mainteners (xiaomi mi5, xiaomi redmi 1s)
So if someone disappears another one comes
In general, you can't predict that
The best phone for lineage is
1. Popular
2. Qualcomm-based
3. With official kernel source and with official lineage support
I bought xiaomi mi5 as it is extremely popular beside devs
My previous phone was redmi 1s for the same reason
But many phones like oneplus go as well
There are some phones that are supported, but they extremely lack developers (many Sony models, for example). That's no good
There are some phones that lack official support but are still quite good
There are many devs (as me) who prefer not to work with lineage
As they are too conservative
Some modern teams are much more attractive
So it depends
Unfortunately noone can say "Buy that phone, it will be supported forever"
