The dreaded Broadcom drivers

They are always faulty :/

Broadcom wifi doesn't really get along with Linux

Maybe because Ubuntu includes non open source drivers for it

But Fedora has a strict policy about open source

You are left to download the drivers and install them yourself, there should be tutorials on YouTube or just google, sorry I can't help you now, being from mobile :/

Enable RPMFusion repository (both free and non-free) and install sudo dnf install gcc kernel-devel kernel-headers akmod-wl.

Hey, I'm thinking of switching from Arch to Fedora's KDE spin. Any important things I should be aware of? Any significant changes in Fedora since 21 ?

There were tons of changes since then. But if you’re coming from Arch you won’t feel too much the difference.

Were you using KDE in Arch?

Important things: think twenty times if you have an nvidia card and intend to use the binary (non-nouveau) driver.

Else go along, you'll get a tested and very recent kde at your disposal

Nope. Gnome. But I want to switch. And I'm sick of Arch too. Things break down frequently. So, I'm thinking of switching to Fedora KDE

Not nvidea*

I have Intel Integrated Graphics .

I’m a big fan of KDE so I would say “go for it”. Personally I have Workstation with KDE installed on top, so I can switch to Gnome if I want to.

KDE actually uses less ram and less CPU usages than Gnome. Honestly I have been distro-spinning for the past few days but i gotta hand it to Fedora for th most stable KDE out there. Cheers to the packagers of Fedora-KDE spin!

I am a fan too, I am using KDE for the first time, I started to use today and I will keep it as my default graphic interface forever.

It's true, I have a Pentium Dual - Core 3.20Ghz and 2G RAM, KDE is using only 500MB RAM and GNOME/Unity are using 1.2G
Kinda strange ? Mine used to use around 500MB. But i found out is strangely subjective

99% sure it's a render and not a real desktop you could try to use conky to achieve a similar look, though

that's what I thought, it's some hacked together fake animations. the only real thing about the gif is the terminal. it's meant as art, a beautiful gif to look at, not for actual usage. though, as I said, some conky themes come kinda close.

Hey folks, I have a friend who is trying to install Fedora on his laptop with a USB key created by the Fedora Media Writer, but he can't get it to boot. Anyone know what might be happening? Here come two stacktraces:

Judging by this, I feel like it could be a hardware problem with the USB, but I'm really not sure

@SISheogorath Should be one of the default ones. The Fedora Media Writer was used to make the boot media.

Since that has been ruled out, seems like a usb port issue or the iso file image is corrupt

Notice here it says "Supported ISO: no"

Just found out he downloaded the ISO instead of using the default option in Media Writer. Going to try having him reburn on the two USB keys using the default option in Media Writer and will see what happens then.
