Gnome is the officially supported DE, against which all tests are run, which is the release blocker for the whole distro and which will be kept updated and continually tested on new releases.

All spins do not have that luxury and may have breakage, weird behaviour or are just not ready for updates but can't dictate update management so updating might kill your Desktop until its fixed or you find the PSA a day later on another pc.

Tobias?

Officially supportted DE? Where it's come from?
The main page that doesnt say "spin"? The main download boasting gnome and thus being the release users most likely see? The only schedules of importance named in the wiki being the gnome release schedule for the new release? And kde/plasma but thats essentially a larger spin in fedora and only is stable for RHEL/centos.

Oh and of course the tons of QC being done on gnome for updates making sure it works - if no xfce maintainer from the xfce SIG is around before its pushed well no testing will take place. Undermined by "Special Interests Group" exisiting for xfce at all. XD

Of course this doesnt mean that you can't enjoy a stable experience on spins or should not install them. But do people you install it for a favour and go with gnome unless not possible at all because it has simply the lowest chance of breakage and has come very far from its olden days if you know one or two commands and use its tweak tool.

Not little, especially in the case of kde. Just less and with a higher chance to not be fixed on time if, for whatever reason, a new xorg version release which breaks the login for it or something.
