Do you know what I'm missing? Some kind of little script that allows people to rate hardware support for linux and runs also on windows. So you can simply run it on a Windows machine that is suposed to die and check what hardware problems you have to expect .-. it's like croud testing for Linux hardware

I would opt for more a technical one (green ticks or red Xes whether stuff works or not), as hardware support for me can vary from month to month, from one distro to another

sure, there should be some basic information like "What Distro, what kernel, with or without 3rd party modules, …" But the real experience of the user is the interesteing part here, so I think that's pretty important. Maybe add a rating system like "How well, does your Wifi work?" 1-5 stars + optional comment box

The difficult part I see right now is: How do I map the hardware IDs from Linux on a windows machine?!?

You could do a dual boot easily too, but there's some nice things you can play around with OS X too. I think rEFIt is the tool for getting a dual boot, but it's been a long time…

As long as you don't interrupt fedora while writing itself to the partition table and don't delete any other partition it's completely fine. ^^

Fedora doesn't delete anything on your harddisk without asking during install :D

OMG. Fedora is not Windows. You don't need to reinstall it. Just configure your network using Network Manager GUI.

Even Windows doesn't need a reinstall when network isn't working... At least in most cases >.>
