Andreas
solved it, had to create a section under ServerFlags with the option "AutoAddDevices" "0" and suddenly it all came to life

I don't use X anymore, I tried Wayland and I found it very good. Much simpler since you don't need to install input drivers. It runs very smoothly and smoothly. It runs very well on Intel video.

Hello and greetings dear friends, Is there a desktop environment or anything similar that is extremely lightweight and small, even smaller than Xfce, and requires absolutely no configuration or customization? I just need a setup where I have a mouse, a few icons, and a simple toolbar. Basically, something similar to IceWM that just works, but this needs to be on Wayland. I've also tried Openbox, but it only gives me a grey screen and it's not like IceWM—everything needs to be configured manually.
Mahdi
Absolutely i use Freebsd :)
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
cwm?
Mahdi
For now, I'm installing Sway to get things going, but it's not that great to have to create your own menu, icons, etc. I just don't have the patience for it 😐
Mahdi
on wayland?
Andreas
would wmaker fit the bill, perhaps?
Andreas
not certain if it works on wayland, though
Mahdi
Are these ready to use? Do they not require unnecessary customizations? CWM or wmaker i want run it on wayland
Krond
Not exact, but I prefer to use Enlightenment without toolbars/pagers, configured to do everything through keys and also to remove window decorations when maximizing windows.

on wayland?

Krond
Well I tried FvWM and others but there's always something I just can't configure to work the way I want.
Mahdi
and they have very too many configs before use
Krond
Yeah, that's the cons for E, not all configs are text and can be pushed somewhere.
Mahdi
sorry, can everyone help me to install and use ly on my freebsd?
Mahdi
i installed it and change it to YES with sysrc but it not runs after reboot automatilcly
Mahdi
# service ly status ly does not exist in /etc/rc.d or the local startup directories (/usr/local/etc/rc.d), or is not executable
Mahdi
and when i run it, it donesnt wotk
Krond
Hm, how you installed it? Which port or package?
Mahdi
it says logged out

If you are using a systemd setup, try installing polkit (sometimes called policykit-1). For other setups, search your OS/Distro's documentation on how to use seatd, elogind or similar. This is likely to involve manually adding users to groups. If the above does not work, try running with `WLR_RENDERER=pixman labwc` in order to use the software rendering fallback
Mahdi
when i put WLR_RENDERER=pixman labwc in my terminal, it still doesn't work :)
Mahdi
how can i run sway or libwc without use Display manager? can everyone help me?

Krond
Hmm, need to try that one…
Mahdi

Mahdi
if i read Freebsd Hand book completely, i will can run and config this?
Krond
I'm using slim, but it's getting outdated…
Mahdi

kein problem 😅 if i install it, i still need to install ly or other display managers?
Mahdi
and is slim on wayland? i really dont like xorg 😐
Krond

Probably yeah, there are a few success stories on forum.
Krond
Slim is a display manager, but I doubt it supports wayland.
Mahdi
i trying to install and use Slim... installing xorg rebooting 😰
Mahdi
Why?
ahh, i finally managed to install ICEWM on xorg 😐 but it is better than nothing
Mahdi
icewm is just usable and works without any config :) this is beautiful :)

whats wrong with xfce? why not enough lightweight for u?
Mahdi

XFCE is larger and more resource-heavy compared to IceWM, and I install a lot of additional software. I have limited and controlled internet access and storage space.
Mahdi
I was more interested in Wayland, but there wasn't a ready-to-use option like ICEWM for Wayland that didn't require configuration.

i see. but icewm is not option for me. i want complex desktop environment. wayland, rofi and this "puzzled" method is not my style.
Mahdi
what is the wayland rofi
harmony5 🇺🇳 ⌤
Rofi is a menu and app launcher, like dmenu
Maxim
... and it isn't wayland-specific, afair
Mahdi
I have created a simple yet elegant wallpaper for BSD Unix systems. Just like the Unix philosophy, it's minimal and beautiful. Anyone who wants to use it, feel free 😂
Mahdi
Artel
🤩
Mahdi
I couldn't find a good wallpaper on the internet for my Unix computer, so I made one myself.
Maxim
doesn't feature, like, anything the color scheme is... arguable a great start, otherwise

I'm not a designer😅, and I don't know how to design👀👌🏻. I also don't want to become a designer in the future👹. This was only because I couldn't find the wallpaper I needed. I'm happy to discuss its color scheme.🐙 Thank you very much!
Mahdi
Its color is suitable and doesn't strain the eyes. What do you think?
Maxim
I don't find this particular color scheme quite elegant or beautiful, but that's a matter of taste
Mahdi
i can share the Krita editable File :) please wait ..
Maxim
no need for that
Sadra
I would like to suggest adding the text : Activate BSD Go to the settings and Activate BSD #Sarcasm
Mahdi
Maybe you're busy. What color combination would you like me to prepare quickly?
Sadra
add this on the wallpaper?
If it's feasible use conky instead Otherwise I think it might be better to add it to the wallpaper

Sadra
is that?
It needs a bit of tweaking, Have you ever seen That text on windows ? I meant something like that With the corresponding front. Don't bother yourself about the font just work a bit on it.

I really don't know how to do it, and I'm not very interested. I can send an editable file... thanks for your attention :) this is helpful and beautiful :)
Maxim
then why make it in the first place and show it to us in the second?..
Sadra
Mahdi
here you are
Sadra
Something similar to this Sorry about the omitted 't'
Mahdi
Mahdi
that is so interesant 😶🥺

good idea

BSD seems so hyping, specifically for new users. I tried to revive my old laptop By installing 32 bit BSD versions, but I faced some issues The first time I installed FreeBSD, Ran an Xfce desktop. It didn't recognize my touchpad, tried to install libinput, loading some related kernel modules, editing Xorg configs, nothing changed. Second time I went with OpenBSD the same procedure But this time it couldn't identify my CPU family type value ... Which put the system in debugger mode after panicking... I guess BSD OSes are not made to be used as Desktop OSes, but rather for servers ... At least not for old laptops let's say ... Maybe because of the lack of extensive hardware support ... That's a challenge Although I have openbsd installed on my home server and I'm happy with, for now tbh.
