You can install the same tools you use in Linux (almost)
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
In my case I find mixer and Alsa enough for my setup. No usb mic in my side tho
Suraj
if u have to

Check $ mixer -f /dev/mixer
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
And read the mixer(8).
Yes, this is mostly recommended https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=mixer&apropos=0&sektion=0&manpath=FreeBSD+13.0-RELEASE+and+Ports&arch=default&format=html

Suraj
see. I changed. my default to /dev/mixer5 now my mic is .. working

Suraj
make two default one for input one for output
Suraj
also I am unable to change .. Mixer rec volume from 35 to 80.

Marshall Kirk McKusick | An Overview of Scheduling in the FreeBSD Kernel In this talk, Marshall describes the schedulers available in the FreeBSD kernel: the current ULE scheduler, the real-time scheduler, and the historic 4BSD scheduler. It focuses on the design and implementation details of the default ULE scheduler. It also describes the recent changes that add support for the non-uniform memory access (NUMA) configurations of high-performance servers. https://2021.eurobsdcon.org/ #talk

I'm assuming weed is excellent in Brazil or smth
well technically it may also be portugal or angola
i686
Accent dude, I bet that was Brazilian Portuguese.... but who knows
G
Accent dude, I bet that was Brazilian Portuguese.... but who knows
@aci686 i bet that too but we cannot assume.... i don't know the angolan portuguese accent to say the truth... and we should still pay respect to angolan BSD users!!
i686
I don't see how disrespectful is assuming the origin of the accent. Anyhow, I guess the guy was just in the wrong chat. Who cares!
i686
I'm not close to nervous... tbh I'm about to fade out lying on the couch

Hi guys, I have recently moved from GNU/Linux to FreeBSD because of better security, better implementation of ZFS, less bloated kernel, jail(8) etc. etc. So far I'm loving it, but I am experiencing some trouble with a few commands (e.g. lsblk, mkfs, etc.). If anyone happens to have a cheatsheet between Linux and FreeBSD commands and can give it to me, I would be really thankful! 😄😈

You can install lsblk package IIRC. pkg rquery "%n" lsblk
But the equivalents are: - geom - gpart - camcontrol
Anonymous
You can use mount too. (Maybe) Just run mount.

Thank you! Appreciated it very much!
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
You can create partitions with gpart and fdisk, IIRC.
Yeah, in FreeBSD is better to use gpart
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
Thank you! Appreciated it very much!
Man pages are gold. As a quick gpart usage reference for disk managing you can take a look here too

Many thanks to all of you of making my FreeBSD journey more pleasant!

Just basic stuff, like formatting USBs from the terminal, mounting new disks etc.

Thank you very much!

Does not matter. You are spamming.
G
fdisk is quite good too no ?

That is not a spam. I'm totally agree with him. cfdisk is better than cli utilities.

Even you should not talk. Go to LinChat and destroy that group with your bullshits.

I am sorry but how is this off topic? He is literally talking about partitioning in BSD

cfdisk is for Linux, not FreeBSD

cfdisk is for Linux, not FreeBSD
but it's there on manpage link he shared

cfdisk & lsblk both r part of util-linux
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
cfdisk is for Linux, not FreeBSD
Yes. I want to clarify something here for all, to avoid misunderstanding: This FreeBSD room is meant to learn, solve and chat about FreeBSD topics. Let people know what tools are natively inside the OS and let them learn about them. FreeBSD is not about taking all Linux tools into the userland. We created an OT room to chat about almost anything. FreeBSD vs Linux tools, security, networking, you name it, fit on that room. Not here. And if you want to have a more global *BSD/Linux chat, there are groups like @UnitedBSD or @BSDanything that may fit better

lsblk is a part of util-linux to get info regarding other pkgs check https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi
Wait, there's util-linux on freebsd? You're kidding right? Aren't they tied to Linux kernel specifics?
