I don't know what is the relevant part....

If yes, add
kld_list="1915kms"
To your /etc/rc.conf

How can I know?
If your hardware is only intel, newer than 2012, then add the line @solaris557 said
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
If you have hybrid graphics then you may need other kernel module
Eloi
It might be older, I don't know since it is a used laptop :/
Eloi
I will try to add the line
Eloi
Thanks a lot

Worst thing that can happen is that you need to remove it from single user mode

I am trying out FreeBSD 13 on VirtualBox, but xfce4 rarely starts up succesfully, usually it's just a back screen, how can I find out why.
Jackie
I installed xorg first and tested X, it's fine. Then xfce4, with slim or lightdm as DM, but usually I just got black screen.
Jackie
I've enabled dbus in /etc/rc.conf and now even startx give me a black screen when only one line exec startxfce4 --with-ck-launch or keep it empty.
Jackie
slim and lightdm shows up fine.

Jackie
no critical errors in ~/.xsession-error either
Jackie
I ran doas pkill X several times for testing, but I think it's fine?
Anonymous
Jackie
No, I do all these as a regular user
Jackie
pkill X requires root priv
Jackie
or am I wrong..
Anonymous
pkill X requires root priv
What no, if you run Xorg as a regular you don't need to have root privileges to kill a process you created
Jackie
OK
Jackie
For video I installed xf86-video-vesa and the user is in both video and wheel group
Jackie
I've done everything and every test I could think of. Now I am changing the repo from quaterly to lastest and do a upgrade to see if this problem still exists.
Jackie
wish me luck
Jackie
Well I upgraded from quarterly to latest and the issue is gone!
Eloi
I created a ufs partition and installed freebsd there, however the old grub apears with only my old OS, and os-prober doesn't detect FreeBSD, how can I create a dualboot?

kub-kun
kub-kun

https://www.reddit.com/r/freebsd/comments/4e1k7i/usb_microphone/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
kub-kun
but maybe this will help you @solaris557
Anonymous
So do any of you guys actually use freebsd as your daily driver?
kub-kun
kub-kun
and using Nintendo switch dosent count too, I think
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
i686
yup
i686
not the only one but yeah, 85% of time spent on it
Suraj
hello guys.
Anyone here have freebsd mail server?
Suraj
If yes is sendmail is a good option?
Andriy
Suraj
what is the prob. with sendmail?
Krond
It's kindda depends. If you just need to route email somewhere sendmail is ok, but there are even simpler alternatives like dma I guess. If you need to accept mail for virtual domains and route it accordingly you would need to learn m4 with sendmail to customize it, while postfix is quite easy to configure for that.
Suraj
Suraj
I want reliability.
Suraj
kub-kun
its gonna screw up very often
Suraj
I am ready.
kub-kun
its not run once and forget thing
Suraj
I have my own mail on debian right now
Suraj
suraj@bugswriter.com
Suraj
It runs fine but now I want to switch to freebsd and this time I want to understand everything
kub-kun
ooooh
kub-kun
ah you'll be fine
kub-kun
if you will switch to freebsd
kub-kun
Suraj
add those in my new mail server?
kub-kun
probably yes
kub-kun
im not running a mail server
kub-kun
so im not sure
Suraj
probably yes
then Idk why you said own mail server is not reliable .. I think it is very reliable.
Suraj
since I am never going to lose the domain bugswriter.com and
Suraj
if I lose my mail I can always setup and again and if I backup all my mail
Suraj
I will never lose my mails.
Krond
well, you definitely can move your mail from one server to another, I think any mail client will help you do that, otherwise you have to script fetchmail to fetch all emails from other host and deliver to local one.
Krond
Or, if you are using same IMAP/POP solution, you can just sync folders.
