@Likai SudentName class needs to call parent "Name" class with something . Otherwise only default constructor of Name will be called with default name given to m_name

The idea of doing this sort of thing is maintainability. If one day they decide that double just isn't ok, but what's really needed is super_extra_accurate_double which may or may not be a class, it's trivial to change and if people have avoided making the assumption that it's a double (for example by doing memcpy(sizeof(double)) rather than memcpy(sizeof(Point::_x_type)) (sure, memcpy is a bad example, but it'll do for this answer); then they can change the type and no code will need to be re-written to handle the new size.

Sorry for answering that late. Thank you very much. It is really interesting. I haven't thought about that. I was thinking about something for avoiding mixing up units. I.e., if you try to add Point::_x_type and Quaternion::_y_type, it is because you really want to do it and it was not unintentionally. But I don't think this is much consistent because it is possible to do it easily. So your answer seems legit.

I build some open source project a half an hour, even more sometimes.

Generic pointer is pointer which is declared as void pointer. Ex: void *void_ptr It is a generic pointer. The generic pointer has to be converted to the type which you want. Since you can't write variable with void as their data type. Hence dereferencing is not possible. But remember that it is still a pointer to use it we have to convert/type cast it to other pointer.
