Interaction between webcamd and HAL will ensure that Xorg automatically attaches/detaches the wacom driver to all connected devices. No wacom configuration is needed in /etc/X11/xorg.conf nor /etc/rc.conf

KDE on FreeBSD is awesome. Mine is pretty stable. Only when I have high RAM workloads it might produce erratic behaviour: menues and windows disappear (get transparent) or turn dark (black). Has anyone experienced this? Any cure for it? Browsing the internet for weeks now to find answers.
Sry. No pics yet. Copied loads of data onto a NAS for the last 2 days. When it happens my beloved screenshot-tool spectacle also drops its service. The windows just remain visible as a very thin grey pixel line. Everything else in them black or transparent. Once I reboot, all goes back to normal.

Sry. Also no smartphone available.

It seems to effect KDE menues and app windows easier than other programs. Last time it happened today, I was able to use firefox for another few hours before rebooting. Often those productivity apps also just turn black.

Mine kde on fbsd lost battery icon and clock 🙃

I suppose it has either to do with KDE rendering settings or with baloo file extractor, but can't narrow it down any closer. High RAM consumption seems to be a trigger.
You could do intermediate update BEs for avoiding to much trouble while updating. I'm doing beadm list / create / activate whenever I update.

Due to recent news about Linus and his kernel terminology, I want to ditch Linux. (as in No further upgrades of the kernel)
I have an ASUS E200H.
My questions are: Does suspend-to-ram work on FreeBSD "in general"?
Will my battery suffer due to some kernel features that FreeBSD might be short of?
------
I want to run a php+MySql server, a browser and have libre office installed.
Be able to change brightness, connect to wifi if I want to browse some websites.
No games. Minimal DM.

I've seen on the website that FreeBSD has some "testing" iso that will check features before I attempt to install the system itself.
Will that answer my questions?
For KDE laptop function keys needed pkg "intel-backlight". Do not forget to install. Your other apps should work fine. No experiences with power saving states.
I have to admit that I am currently running Linux. KDE is even more awesome here, because the graphics acceleration works way better than on FreeBSD. KWin is just super fast and smooth.
