hey there, one question maybe you can answer easy ... i will make a su crontab for just fetch updates ... and then i will make an i3blocks script for read the pending updates with the normal user ... the question is::::: where can i get the pending updates actuallized with the cron order? or maybe there is a command for a common user to see this info??
Carl

By the way I made a poll after having a discussion with a friend of mine whether or not bug-free software exists or not.
Arminio
Arminio
That's the result.
Arminio
yeah
Carl
Yeah, i set cron with root for the update ... Now i need to see if there is any update with carlos user ... I don't want to give more privileges to my user. I have seen, the freebsd update can send and email with the updates, but i want to know if there is a command who show the cache or some like that .... What i was looking is the more easy way to see the pending updates without privileges

NomadBSD 1.3 Released To Offer A Pleasant FreeBSD 12.1 Based Desktop Experience
Along similar aims to GhostBSD and MidnightBSD, GhostBSD is another one of the BSD distributions focused on providing a nice out-of-the-box experience. NomadBSD 1.3 is now available that is in turn based on the recent FreeBSD 12.1...
Arminio
Why would a normal FreeBSD 12.1 not result in a pleasant desktop experience, though?

Manuel (馬瑞)
Hello!
Manuel (馬瑞)
Is there any way to create a live session for a BSD-based system? i.e. PFSense...
Manuel (馬瑞)
Is there any documentation for this? I don't ask for persistency, just Live sessioning like it was a regular distribution
Manuel (馬瑞)
Wow, this really points me to something, thank you so much.

hello everyone, I installed freebsd on my laptop with an amd ryzen 5 2500u (it is an apu with a raven gpu).
I installed drm-kmod and everything works fine, but the laptop is running hot and drains much power. I think that the issue is gpu-related (maybe power save on amdgpu drm), any suggestions?
mrphyber
mrphyber
12.1 release
mrphyber
it is freshly installed, it should be automatic, is it?
mrphyber
this install was not upgraded from an older fbsd version
mrphyber
I already fiddled with xorg.conf, set amdgpu and installed xf86 amdgpu driver
mrphyber
could build from ports help?
mrphyber
tearfree already set
mrphyber
I'll try it now, first with fscb instead of amdgpu
mrphyber
I'll let you know, thanks
mrphyber
with scfb I just get a black screen
mrphyber
on the log seems ok
mrphyber
no errors that I can see
mrphyber
I loaded again amdgpu and set sys.device.drmn0 power state to low and the pc seems to be colder
mrphyber
the power consumption is the same tho
mrphyber
yep, the rest works flawlessly out of the box
mrphyber
even suspend/resume via zzz (acpiconf -s 3)
mrphyber
only thing, to resume it takes about 20 seconds but it resumes even on Xorg

BTW by far the best use for the touchbar on the new Macbook Pro's is that you can select Telegram stickers on it
Arminio
Arminio
It's sad that it doesn't support GIFs though :(
Arminio
It would totally be possible to implement
Arminio
I'd love to see my touchbar playing GIFs
Arminio
Makes zero sense whatsoever, but still
Krond
Like, all of them?
Arminio
Why not lol
Arminio
Selectable GIF history to choose from
Arminio
I'd love that

is it normal that "xorg.conf" is missing but I can run xfce anyway?
