im noob at bsd , but my chip was intel manufactured and i configured jack with "jack retasking for HDA intel sound" using x11, hope it helps
Anonymous
Thanks. Seems that I have the wrong driver... or I didn't setup well the device.hints. Probably because I am also a noob. Anyway is very hard to read things I actually don't do this way. I usually read documentation hardly, by understanding low-level internals. But this is just for pleasure, and I don't like to mix.

I am going to have to reboot, as the kernel seems got trashed by some kind of IRQ.

One you get the right driver, all answers are at the link Andrey shared https://t.me/FreeBSD1/21774 No need for PulseAudio nor Alsa
Oh, I knew. But I get angry, because it's possible to hear music on the internal speakers. And why not by the output-line?

An rc daemon template to build simple rc based scripts, will be nice if just creating by the issue of one command.

I have a strange problem in lxqt, when I press up arrow button instead of up it takes a screenshot what's goin on here?
Anonymous
thanks to linux binary support for bsd , u can run pulseaudio
Wait, doesn't pulseaudio rely on Linux specific kernel internals?
Anonymous
You mean it runs perfectly?
Badugar
afaik PA can use them but is platform-independent
Anonymous
I see. Did you manage to solve it?
If I tell you the true, I still don't know. I followed the guide I shared, but I have fear if the kernel becomes insane (hahaha) because another strange IRQ. I rebooted few hours ago... but I don't know yet. Maybe I'm going to connect it later.
Anonymous
run alsamixer in the terminal emulator.
I did before following the guide and haven't see anything realted to output-line. It seems some missconfiguration of the system. I am going to try directly to connect it by jack audio cable. Because the alsamixer could also broke the stability of the kernel.

YES
Anonymous
Do you know what I think was it? You are not going to believe, but I think the following line is super important: acpi_ibm_load="YES" I also added more lines, like: snd_hda_load="YES" (but the snd_hda driver was being loaded on boot before adding this line... anyway I added).
Anonymous
IDK. I am a beginner.
Me too, nice you meet you!
Anonymous
Thanks.
No, thank you. You made my day =)
Anonymous
Hmm, how?
Haha... I didn't want to test the output-line, since it was a headache to make it to work. Yesterday I found on that website the steps to configure the system, and I configured the system following the guide. Rebooted and then I just didn't tested to don't break the kernel again due to an uncontroller hardware interrupt request (IRQ). Today you asked me if I solved it, and I was angry (still...) and, then I tested to have an argument to answer you. And actually it is playing music over the output-line, on the big one speakers. I started on computering because the first thing I was able to do, was playing music on a Windows 95 IBM PC. Since that moment, I've never stop. [...].

Cool.
Haha 👍🏻

FreeBSD is working like a charm, but the only requeriment to enjoy it is to know clearly that it's only to serve you if it's well configured. Some wishes to buy an Apple came to my mind yesterday night. But I didn't because of the high price. Then I realized this OS is working fast and stable enough, but it is not macOS, where everything comes preconfigured and coded dedicatedly. But if you know how to, and see it clear, you are going to be able to enjoy FreeBSD a lot. It's my favorite OS right now. I've never seen so much potential together on free software and open source. I was used to Linux, but... I definately knew I prefer the BSD philosphy because of the main idea of simplicity. Linux is a kernel where I see a really equilibrated idea of how to manage tasks, but can't understand how is so unstable... I prefer to think the kernel is quite well done, but the ability of having it working with very few resources, makes the community put inside a lot of extra things, which I really don't stand for... really, but I liked a lot. [...]. I've found on BSD a mine of freedom. But on FreeBSD the possibility of enjoy that freedom. But the only requeriment is to have the enough patience, volunteer, etc. to know that clearly it will serve if supported and configured. That's because FreeBSD comes with a bunch of support and possibilities, but only is going to work if that you need to is complained. And complained is not a sinonym of plug and play, and let it work. Because this OS makes it to be powerful, not only because is well coded, and rock solid, if not, it's because it comes up to work, but not preconfigured generically. And that makes you able to define everything as you need it. Making the system, really economic, fast and stable and finally, if you have enough knowledge, personal and favorite. [...]. I think if that idea is applied to Linux, the community will find a mine of freedom also... IMHO, I can't use Linux because I inmediatly go to Linux From Scratch (LFS) and, for that I use FreeBSD, which is going to serve me as I really want. But... I only see one trouble to the BSD kernel, and is the realtime acces to the hardware. It can be by some other reasons, but I believe it is something related to the task switching and IRQ Handling, the reason why the music sometimes spikes. [...]. Could be also the Internet connection, but I doubt because is speedy enough and it has buffer 🧐

Hi there. I would have a question. Are there any packages where you prefer using ports over packages ?
AMIR
Wait, doesn't pulseaudio rely on Linux specific kernel internals?
it uses alsa-base but friends said it could be better to use pipe wire
Anonymous
When you want to a customize a software package, use ports
Yes, same here. Whenever you need to customize any source, here it goes! Sometimes is tedius, but we are glad to have the option.

Hi, I don't know why my FreeBSD isn't loading the /boot/loader.conf modules specified. I just followed the guide: https://cyber.dabamos.de/unix/x230/ The sound is working, seems that it was only the need to configure the /boot/device.hints But the acpi_ibm and acpi_video are not loading but they're specified on /boot/loader.conf Thanks in advance.
Anonymous
They are module? If yes, you can try this way too: $ doas kldload acpi_ibm
Yes, they are. And this way is working, but I prefer to be done automagically :-)
Anonymous
Can i see you /boot/loader.conf contents?
$ sudo cat /boot/loader.conf verbose_loading="YES" acpi_ibm_load="YES" acpi_video_load="YES" #mmc_load="YES" #mmcsd_load="YES" #sdhci_load="YES" #if_iwn_load="NO" #wlan_wep_load="NO" #wlan_ccmp_load="NO" #wlan_tkip_load="NO"
Anonymous
I don't know if this is a matter, but I am using bash instead of csh and sh for root and user.
Pouria
Pouria
Yes, they are. And this way is working, but I prefer to be done automagically :-)
He said it works when he is loading the modules with kldload(8).

Pouria
Weird. What's the output of $ kldstat ?
He should come and give the output. Wait.
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
Alright, let's wait

I have some modules I don't know why, (linuxtatata): $ kldstat Id Refs Size Name 1 33 1f11ef8 kernel 2 1 21e8 acpi_dock.ko 3 1 3378 acpi_wmi.ko 4 1 3250 ichsmb.ko 5 1 2180 smbus.ko 6 1 158458 i915kms.ko 7 1 7f4c8 drm.ko 8 2 cbc8 linuxkpi_gplv2.ko 9 2 2328 lindebugfs.ko $

Where is linuxtata? i can not see.
Haha... tatata is like to say blahblahblah
Anonymous
When you load the acpi_ibm with kldload(8), sound is works?
Sound is working before loading it and after. acpi_ibm is the optional to handle the Fn keys.
Anonymous
The true is that after I follow the guide, I'm having some screen flashes on the sddm login panel after login and lock. Also, when the OS was recently installed, I used sddm-freebsd-black-theme and everything disappears from screen. I have to click somewhere to the login controls appear.
Anonymous
Did you try this?
No, but why? man loader.conf
Pouria
No, but why? man loader.conf
Try that. Maybe it works.
Anonymous
Try that. Maybe it works.
Okay, let me a moment. Do I keep loader.conf untouched?
Pouria
Okay, let me a moment. Do I keep loader.conf untouched?
I'm not sure, but comment the acpi_ibm_load line.
Anonymous
[In reply to Pouria Asadi] I'm doing a backup, let's wait, please. I commented everything on loader.conf I think this file isn't being loaded by bootloader.
Anonymous
OK.
Telegram messages arrive now after 1 hour and 2 minutes.
Pouria
Ah.

Damn, you are a black magician ._.

Why the heck is it loading with a line on rc.conf but loader.conf is not?
Anonymous
And also, why do I have strange modules on my kldstat's list?

I see the word linux on my freebsd, am I wrong or did I downloaded a backdoor?

But, i'm not sure. Ask it from @n0madcoder.
