You need something like Darwin 😁 Use puredarwin
TheWhyteCrow
My goodness how old are you?
Just 42. Check the history of FBSD, it's not so old.😁

Darwin? Nice OS. Almost Mac. But... useless. Btw, my bsd experience was triggered by a need of my Mac Performa 630 (Google the specs, though I remember it well😈) system upgrade. The only way was NetBSD.. Having some intel machines, I moved to Linux, and later back to BSD. And then, in 2007 (?), it was FreeBSD. Windows for gaming, Unix for work.
Arsalan
Is there any way to install 3rd party apps on freebsd like steam?
Arsalan
Yeap holly shit wine!! Never works fine There is situation and I believe that when you can install Windows why and why u forced to use wine

Wine on FreeBSD works. But not all apps (esp. games) work with wine...
Most do. Check out protondb.com. Proton is customized Wine
Vladimir
Yes, but guides from 2014 would not work on modern systems

I wonder if GIFs would have happened if the creator would have been able to predict that at some point they're just used exclusively for the lulz.

man ipfw and man ipfw.conf should be enough to show you what you need to do. Kernel recompilation should not be needed, if you have vanilla one (the one from installation). I am not sure about kernel source, which might be needed at compile time of certain packages, depending on the fw solution you would have chosen.

Thanks for the info

has anyone be able to run bhyve n do installation on a wireless network....
Stan
I have a problem with bhyve connecting from my host to rdp, if i connect remote it works fine, but localy i get a connection timeout. I can ping from the host and remote the IP of the windows box running on bhyve
Stan
The win box is connected using tap0 device that is bridged to my created vlan50 device
Stan
Is anyone had the same problem?
Stan
Or do i need to tell the system that the route to the windows box is on bridge0 or tap0 or something?
Stan
Setting the route did not help. There must be something else

First of all, you connect "via" RDP, not "to" RDP. Second, you connect to a remote in both cases. Your remote happens to be localhost it seems, so that even makes debugging easier. Check if a program is listening on Port 3389 (not sure if TCP or UDP) on your local machine.
Arminio
I'm not sure what exactly speaks RDP in your bhyve-Setup, though, to be honest.
Stan
Thanks for the RDP hint, i'm not native english speaker.
Arminio

Your english is super-fine, I'm not an english speaker myself. :-D

Well, my mother's tongue is german. :-)

I use bhyve o a freebsd 12 host, and have a virtual windows 10 running ontop of bhyve, the windows box is installed and running. the IP is: 172.18.50.40 , the FreeBSD Host' IP is 172.18.50.4
Stan
I connect via rdp to 172.18.50.40
Stan
Windows
Arminio
ah :-)
Arminio
Hm, okay, then what you describe makes total sense.
Stan
If i connect from any another box i the network i can connect via RDP without any problems, but i use the bhyve host as my main workstation and i am unable to get a rdp connection from Host to the windows box
Stan
The funny thing is that i can ping the windows box without problems
Arminio
Ok, that's actually weird :-D
Arminio
You know you got a job in the right company when the number of laptops in the room exceeds the number of people multiplied by 2.

I love how people call me Armino (that's what my father used to call me all the time) while my real name is Armin, and Arminio is just what an italian friend of mine calls me. :-D
Arminio
The indian friend of me always writes Amin without an "r", and a lot of germans confuse Armin with Achim. :-D
Arminio
hahaha ;-)
